  1. The Aviation Megastore in my neck of the woods has it available as of April 3rd. Looks like I will get myself some this saturday. A build is going on at Britmodeller.
  2. Nice work on the engine mounting and sway braces. This attention to detail will make or break a model.
  3. The roundels were also used pre-war but to avoid confusion with the British and French these were changed into the orange triangle with black border. I also have a part built HK Models B-25 which will have a similar livery. The flags make the otherwise rather bland olive drab more colourful. Although the olive drab can be livened up by using various tones of greens and the Flory washes I used.
  4. Here are the finished photo's of my finished Hasegawa P-40E which was started to regain my pleasure in scale aircraft modelling. Final thing to do is the antenne but I seem to be out of ez-line. The Hasegawa kit is a very nice kit for this purpose. The Dutch livery makes a change from all the sharkmouths we usually see with this type of aircraft. My pleasure and fun has been well and truly restored. Will start the next project this evening.
  5. Well apart from some ez-line, which I seem to be out of, the P-40 is finished. A highly enjoyable project which has fully restored my pleasure in modelling. Hope you like it too. Will post more pics in the finished section.
  6. State of play as of yesterday.
  7. Another one for the display case, you are a machine. Very very nicely modelled. What's next?
  8. Nope, when we got her a year ago that was her name already I'm an Ultravox fan (with bits of Simple Minds, Marillion and Kim Wilde mixed in between).
  9. Hehe, only just spotted good old Miss Molly sneaking in. In a very strange way she is very much interested about my modelling. The end finish will be matt indeed. Next is to fit the drop tank stays, that will be a bit of a job as I forgot to drill all holes so will have to do some improvisation. And the Quickboost exhausts haven't arrived yet, they should have by now. But patience is a virtue.
  10. Yep you nailed it. Think the airframe still looks too new though.
  11. Final assembly, wheeldoors and wheels fitted. Some minor touch ups here and there. Getting there.
  12. I was wondering if it is possible to separatly purchase sprue F on which the Mk II parts are located. Anyone? Thanks in advance. Cheers Cees
  13. Not yet, that will be used on the undercarriage and selected panels. Just need to experiment with them. So close to the finish line I do not want to make stupid mistakes (not more than usual).
  14. Me too, it is very controlable and with cottonswab's you can remove as much or as little as you wish. Here she is after several wiping sessions. Some more tweaking and then ready for the mat varnish coat. I expect the finishline will be met later this week.
  15. I like em durrty though. Flory wash dark dirt.
  16. That would make a very nice diorama. But was this type of crane really used to hoist aircraft out if the water? Thanks for posting you photo's of a great model. Would you like to introduce yourself first and share the process of developing the model with us? Cheers Cees
  17. Geezz you really a challenge regarding your scratchbuild work. I love it how you break down these complex shapes into the simple basics. Very inspiring. Cheers Cees
  18. Just got back from the show at Lingen Germany. Couldn't resist this one for 42 euro's.
  19. The devil is in the detail. although I have been working on the p-40 almost every evening it looks like very little progress has been made. However, the tailwheel is on and the interior of the tailwheel doors and leather boot have been painted. The prop has been fitted with one of the nylon bushes provided in the kit and is removable. Very handy. Next stage is the washing/weathering process, although I don't want to make it look too filthy. The end is in sight.
  20. Yep, me too. Ordered the Quickboost replacement exhaust stubs yesterday as they look much nicer than the multipart Hasegawa parts. Getting there.
  21. Decalling underway. The flags nicely overlap the overpainted US symbols. Undercarriage fit is so great it's not glued.
  22. That is some very nice scratchbuilding. Looking forward to see more of this fine work. Cheers Cees
  23. Nope, they are already sprayed on. The discs represent the overpainted US markings. First coat of parket plus, I found some Dutch flag decals so no need for masking. This will speed up the build.
  24. Now you tell me! Sprayed the "overpainted" US markings and the masks were really helpful to get a nice result. I will be using more of these I'm sure. Perhaps it is too clean as pics of Dutch B25's show the work was done very roughly but in scale it works better IMHO. Now to get the Dutch flags masked off using Tamiya tape. Cees
