Speed build Hasegawa Tony
Wingco57 replied to Padubon's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Very nice build. Photobucket should be <censored>. -
So what else have you been doing these past 3 1/2 years? Just kidding. Sorry to hear about your experiences. But more importantly, have you got a replacement kit to continue this epic project? Cees
-
I have always been interested in the Scratchbuilders Defiant, but having read about and seen the kit contents it's a major project. Although there was an article in SAMI many years ago in which the author made a beautiful model out of it. I really hope someone would think about releasing one eventually though. Cees

Diorama accessories from Plusmodel in 1:35
Wingco57 replied to Fran's topic in LSM-Related Reviews (military figures etc)
Now THAT is very useful for diorama's. Nice one Fran. -
Hi Erik. You are of course correct. The model depicts a mk XVI and to be correct the wings should be radically modified to represent the e-wing with the inboard .50 and outboard 20 mm Hispano cannon. As this was a commission build the client wanted the model out of the box. I was happy to oblige. Cheers Cees

What kept you Good to have you back building armor.

The aileron just needs a coat of Mr Surfacer 500 to blend everything in and then it's done. The ailerons will be attached to the wings using steel rods to make a very stiff bond as glue and Tamiya tape do not hold very well. And this lessens the risk of glue clogging the joint. The same will be done to the elevators which have broken off three times already so drastic measures are imminent After the ailerons have been fitted I will start on scribing the various inspection hatches and panels, so the wings are really nearing completion, and then it's time to have a look at the engines and props. The latter are massive regarding span and it will be difficult to adapt excisting parts. Hmmm.

Amazing scratchbuilding, I especially like the way you break down the complex structures into simple shapes.

Me too, getting there but work concentrates on the wings and tailplane at the moment. Yesterday was a setback for the project as the starboard elevator cracked and had to be repaired. The hinges are very weak as well so I have to rework them and mount them with metal rods to be safe. Sh*t happens, but that is part of the game.

Hi Tom, I understand what you mean. These projects can get under your skin. It's a matter of motivation ( or the lack thereof). The first outboard nacelle has at least been started so another step towards the fun part. Hang in there. Cees

Did the parts scrub up well Jeroen? We thought you would like this build Graham. Cees -

Really looking forward to see this one. -
More progress Made the windows for the front fuselage from a discarded cd-box casing. Also work continues on the engine nacelle. The rear of the Lancaster mock up nacelles are undernourished so will have to be reshaped. Luckily I never throw any discarded parts away as they can be used as a basis. The end of the nacelle slides into the front when the flaps are deployed so a cut has been made to represent the join.
