  1. Gazz, it looks stunning. I’m thinking of doing one of Galland’s postwar 109s he flew in the 1980s....
  2. Krow, you mean this? I never thought about it, I said it from the heart, but it does kinda seem like a plug, eh? It’s true, at least around here, we don’t have the skills all you guys have so we gotta get the good stuff. This all seems a bit surreal.....
  3. Just so everyone is clear here, Karim was personally asked by Alexey to act as his intermediary here. Karim has a thorough mastery of English and is better able to communicate. Lets get this behind us. Covid has us all on edge, and we all are wondering about the future whe continuing to work to the fullest extent available. I use Alexey’s products, and to me, they are the best in the world. Around here, you can hardly expect to compete a WW1 model without Alexey’s products. oh, and Oleg’s as well.
  4. Friends, We’ve all bought through Proper Plane in the past and I just have to say that I LOVE their products. Danny, I feel your pain, my friend. We’ve all got orders sitting in limbo waiting for them to be fulfilled. I have decals from Hungary still in limbo after months, but it is what it is. I agree, maybe a bit of communication would be better, but personally, I have a huge faith in Proper Plane, and I will be placing a fairly big order tonight. I like to buy all I think I’ll need for quite awhile from my Eastern European friends all in one swoop, if for no reason other than to save postage. Heck, even 15 props from Henri Daehne in Germany of all places took several months. Then we add Covid to the equation and it’s pretty soon insane.
  5. The last thing he did was to arrange me a Tamiya F-51 Kit, so I’ll need to do something crazy and actually build a Tamiya kit. I’m concerned that I may not have the skill and fortitude to actually build a model without cutting it all up...
  6. If there are forum issues that need fixing, just text, email, or call if no other staff are around. But usually, Pardelhas is around as well. Cheers!
  7. I’ll in for one! Heck yeah!
  8. Guys, I do apologize, I’m usually Johnny on the Spot when it comes to spammers and such, but we had some family issues ‘‘tis last while and I’ve been otherwise occupied. On Wednesday, after a brief and unexpected illness, Joy’s Dad passed away. It was totally unexpected and took us all by surprise, but he’s happy now with Joy’s Mom in Heaven and with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joy was called to the hospital because he was in a bad way, and as soon as she walked in, rubbed his head and said she was there, he smiled, gave her a happy look, and Passed, right there and right then. All I can say is that it absolutely cemented our Faith, not that it needed any more cementing. Funeral is Monday, and I expect I’ll be back to building shortly after. It was not Covid, just simple old age, y’all. See y’all in a few days. Ernie
  9. Wow!! Guy walks in here and makes a huge splash with these completed builds. OK guys! It's time to up our games...
  10. I expect all kits will reappear, probably from China.
  11. Looking great Harv! New tracks and all. The thing is stellar my friend!
  12. Well then. First planking complete, and now I’m attacking her with a small finger plane and a block with 220 grain paper. What a breath of fresh air this is! I’m actually enjoying myself, and so far I haven’t cocked it all up.
  13. Hahaha. I think my Lanc should do well enough in competition at least not so bad as to embarrass myself or LSM. But it’s no best of show, though.
  14. Fun..... No bench time. Yet
  15. C’mon over Phil. Bring your hide and we’ll take it from there.
  16. San Marcos will move to 2023. It’s certainly a wise decision! We’ll see y’all in Vegas for 2021.
  17. Rob, I'm very surprised how much I'm enjoying this build. What a change of pace!! I won't build wood ships only, but I'll definitely build many more. I'm looking forward to the parts that more blend with our plastic hobby: the coppering of the bottom, the painting, rigging and weathering, etc. Building the basic hull form is a touch tedious at times. And I still need to shape it and install the second 'pretty' layer of planking.
  18. I'm now an armchair Commodore. I haven't sailed anything larger than a paper boat in 15 years.
  19. Thanks y’all! I’m having a special day with me lovely wife.
  20. The first planking is complete. Here she is almost complete last night. Note to self: next time I do one of these, install the garboard planks first, then plank down to reach the garboard, instead of trying to fit it last. Grrrrrrrrr
  21. John, I have this kit in the stash and it's hollering to me as well....
  22. After another ration of grog, here we are. The missing piece on the stern is normal. A stealer is inserted into the open area, and is quite common in full scale shipbuilding. The whole idea here is that the planks, as much as possible, should follow the natural lines of the hull, and not to force them to do something they don’t want to. The glue marks will, of course, sand off the entire hull will be planed and blocked to a smooth, flowing form. I’m actually quite enjoying the change of pace with this.
  23. Ford, GM, Mercedes Benz, BMW, etc
