  1. I’ll in for one! Heck yeah!
  2. Guys, I do apologize, I’m usually Johnny on the Spot when it comes to spammers and such, but we had some family issues ‘‘tis last while and I’ve been otherwise occupied. On Wednesday, after a brief and unexpected illness, Joy’s Dad passed away. It was totally unexpected and took us all by surprise, but he’s happy now with Joy’s Mom in Heaven and with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joy was called to the hospital because he was in a bad way, and as soon as she walked in, rubbed his head and said she was there, he smiled, gave her a happy look, and Passed, right there and right then. All I can say is that it absolutely cemented our Faith, not that it needed any more cementing. Funeral is Monday, and I expect I’ll be back to building shortly after. It was not Covid, just simple old age, y’all. See y’all in a few days. Ernie
  3. Wow!! Guy walks in here and makes a huge splash with these completed builds. OK guys! It's time to up our games...
  4. I expect all kits will reappear, probably from China.
  5. Looking great Harv! New tracks and all. The thing is stellar my friend!
  6. Well then. First planking complete, and now I’m attacking her with a small finger plane and a block with 220 grain paper. What a breath of fresh air this is! I’m actually enjoying myself, and so far I haven’t cocked it all up.
  7. Hahaha. I think my Lanc should do well enough in competition at least not so bad as to embarrass myself or LSM. But it’s no best of show, though.
  8. Fun..... No bench time. Yet
  9. C’mon over Phil. Bring your hide and we’ll take it from there.
  10. San Marcos will move to 2023. It’s certainly a wise decision! We’ll see y’all in Vegas for 2021.
  11. Rob, I'm very surprised how much I'm enjoying this build. What a change of pace!! I won't build wood ships only, but I'll definitely build many more. I'm looking forward to the parts that more blend with our plastic hobby: the coppering of the bottom, the painting, rigging and weathering, etc. Building the basic hull form is a touch tedious at times. And I still need to shape it and install the second 'pretty' layer of planking.
  12. I'm now an armchair Commodore. I haven't sailed anything larger than a paper boat in 15 years.
  13. Thanks y’all! I’m having a special day with me lovely wife.
  14. The first planking is complete. Here she is almost complete last night. Note to self: next time I do one of these, install the garboard planks first, then plank down to reach the garboard, instead of trying to fit it last. Grrrrrrrrr
  15. John, I have this kit in the stash and it's hollering to me as well....
  16. After another ration of grog, here we are. The missing piece on the stern is normal. A stealer is inserted into the open area, and is quite common in full scale shipbuilding. The whole idea here is that the planks, as much as possible, should follow the natural lines of the hull, and not to force them to do something they don’t want to. The glue marks will, of course, sand off the entire hull will be planed and blocked to a smooth, flowing form. I’m actually quite enjoying the change of pace with this.
  17. Ford, GM, Mercedes Benz, BMW, etc
  18. My big deal is that I’m absolutely not cool with the Chinese doing what the Chinese do: openly stealing intellectual property for their own gain. Now, IF they acquired it legally according to NZ Law, I’d be 100% cool with it. That’s just how I’m wired. I’m 100% against intellectual theft. The good news is, I’m under no obligation to buy it, or anything else I feel is stolen intellectual property. And this is NOT because I support PJ whatsoever. A close friend of mine has, in other retail areas, been the victim of Chinese theft, and it’s NOT a victimless crime. He lost hundreds of thousands in sales, tens of thousands in development dollars, and 10 years of his life. He had exactly 7 months of sales before flagrant bootleg Chinese copies arrived on the shelves at half price, and 1/10 the quality.
  19. Up, I have a Polish set as well, but will do one using an Academy two seater
  20. I’m a dedicated prophead as well, but every now and then a belchfire oil burner needs to be slapped together just to keep one’s head clear. Whats not to love about 18 gazillion microscopic stencils, building, painting and decalling 60 of the same bomb, putting on all the exact blades, antennas, rivet pattern around the relief tube exhaust, and removing ejector pin marks from inside the big white sucker scoop.... lest you get yelled at and made sport of by the Brotherhood of the Blowtorch.
  21. I do know that a 1/32 Lanc was a lag project and pipe dream of his for decades. I’m pretty certain he was working on his before HK started on theirs, but who knows. I do believe it all tied into his owning the Rights to the Dambusters and the Barnes Wallis story. Whether or not we got French planes, a DH.4 or Be.2c, we did get many dozens of crazy well engineered unique and stunning WW1 aircraft that, if not for him, would never have been produced.
  22. Well, around here the F-16C is easy enough to find, but it’s 100 USD. Plus shipping to Germany and it gets spendy. Are they not available from Hannants?
