Exactly, you can't see ANYTHING down those intakes, anyway. On the F-5 I built, it was a non event. I just painted the interior black, along with the engines, and never had a single issue. My opinion is that guys are getting wound up over not much at all. Another big beef I heard with the kit is how not every part to do all available versions comes with the kit, with the biggest one being a panel for the -5. If you can build a C the way it comes, build a C. But if you can't wait for the inevitable release of the -5, then I'm sure the AM will quickly oblige if you are incapable of scratching one out yourself. Other than those two nits that were picked, it certainly appears, from all who responded, to be a solidly decent kit with exceptional surface detail. I have not received a copy yet, but when I do, y'all will be the first to know.

That Genie that just came off that Voodoo has a high yield nuclear warhead to take out entire squadrons of Tu-95s with one shot, so I expect that they used a practice warhead to avoid any blowback from Greenpeace and PETA.

A bit of a secret here is that I’m most of the way through the little brother to this huge honker, the KH Little Bird. Just like this kit, it has its moments, but all in all, if you’re careful, it’s a truly beautiful build. Tony, make sure you make provisions using brass or steel tubes and rod to make the main rotors removable for transport. Most hello guys do that. Mark, (1to1 Scale) can probably better instruct you on that little trick.

LOL @ Dale. Boy do I have some of you folks fooled. I’m no modeling god. I’m actually a very mediocre modeler who’s gained much technique from the likes of y’all. I’ve had to completely strip total paint jobs off of almost every model I’ve built due to poor technique and/or carelessness on my part. I’ve had to totally rebuild the arse end of a jet project because I spilled Tamiya extra thin all over it. I completely, totally, undeniably completely SUCK at AFVs. No matter what I do, I could buy a better representation of a vehicle by buying a Tonka toy, stripping off the name, and painting it green. With house paint and a roller. Folks who can take three gazillion little parts and make a realistic representation of an infantry vehicle are bloody wizards, in my opinion. The only thing I can say about myself is that I’m not content with normal sane projects. I like to push the limits. But I’ve yet to attempt a metal clad fighter the likes of Peter Castle, a crazy warped Hallibag like Cees, or a total conversion of a B-17G to a B-17C as seen elsewhere. My ultimate goal right now after my B-36 is a scratchbuilt Fokker Super Universal in the largest practical scale that I can obtain a decent R-985 for. If I can pull that off, my life will be complete. You folks, all of you, are where we all learn stuff. New techniques, new equipment and paint systems, etc, etc, all go a long way to helping us improve. I absolutely refuse to settle. Settling to me is failure. There’s always room for improvement, which for me is to create the ultimate aviation forms in 1/32 and larger.

I like ZM due to the complexity and accuracy. I like Revell due to the simplicity, price, and accuracy. I like Tamiya due to its preciseness and accuracy.

I agree with all here. Gus, simply a stunning build, man. Truly spectacular. Like Hubert said, this looks truly weathered as only a Greek aircraft could look, without being overdone, and like Rob said, on a sun baked piece of concrete with heat radiating off the surface, it would absolutely pass for real. I honestly can’t see anything that stands out as out of place. The Mk.82 new look is brilliant. They show off the tired and worn aircraft to perfection. May I PLEASE post this on the LSM Facebook page?

Harv, be ready for an interesting build. It's a very demanding kit with plenty of pitfalls for the unwary, but no worse than the P-38 you converted. The Aerocraft landing gear are an absolute MUST with this kit. The kit gear is weak and not up to the task, so spend the few dollars and get the gear from Britain. Other than that, if you want a semi tough but crazy rewarding build, build it mostly OOB. Yoy can busy up the pit with a few runs of lead wire, but other than that, just build it. People talk bad about Kitty Hawk kits, but properly built Kitty Hawk kits always seem to do VERY well at the Nats.
