  1. WOW!! Amazing stuff. I'm going to be a customer
  2. They always said the only replacement for a DC-3 is another DC-3. The only modern aircraft that even comes came to kocking the old DC-3 off it's pedestal was the Cessna Caravan. But as good as those were, they were expensive, only had one engine, and like all modern stuff, not built to last like the old aircraft were. How many Caravans will still be flying in 60 years? I'd say none.
  3. Hey Mark, are you going to do the dolphin nosed version with the rear ramp? I love that version of the Mi-17. The RCAF had a few of that they deployed in Afghanistan. They looked pretty cool in desert sand with low viz markings.
  4. Hubert, that is an utter abomination! A company DARED to replace P&W’s beautiful radials with those hideous contrivances that actually burn lamp oil for fuel! A stake was driven clean through her healthy hearts to destroy her soul and create a monster. I’m devastated
  5. Agreed there, Greg Cooper, HPH rep lives 10 miles away. I just drive over... And his prices can’t be beat. I’ve seen the B-36 being sold by mainstream retailers for twice what I paid for mine.
  6. Uhhh boy. I will have to give up all my secrets. But seriously, what a great idea for a topic!! But, I’m in bed, about to doze off, so, tomorrow.....
  7. Great work so far! In awe. I’m waiting to see what happens with Iain Ogilvie’s brilliant work on the wing before I start mine. I’m totally blown away by this!
  8. DC-3 tail cone ended with the white taillight. OK, call me anal, but I’ve learned to love to hate the old Gooney.
  9. Is anyone considering doing this kit? Well, I will be digging into it later this year. I received the kit last week, and it lives up to the hype. Upper and lower wing scoring matches, and the parts are pretty much flawless. This weekend, I’ll take some kit pics and get a review together, but until then, I’ll point out the only “oops” I saw on the kit. The C-47 fuselage, unfortunately, was moulded with the DC-3 tail fairing, which was eliminated for most C-47s. All glider tugs were delivered without the tail cone, so you’ll need to check references, but ALL civilian production had the tailcone. Postwar, many were modified by installing this fairing, but most WW2 C-47s did not have the tailcone, the fuselage ended with a blunt cut under the rudder trailing edge.... Not a difficult fix, but beware.
  10. I’ve always been drawn to the wooden ship models, just never had the guts to try one. This little fishing vessel looks amazing.
  11. Happy guy here! That RAF book has some incredibly cool schemes. Now if only there was an LSM kit of the Blackburn Beverley and an Argosy, I’d be in heaven.
  12. Neat. You learn something new every day. I actually thought they were a "by gosh and by golly" 'set it and forget it' missile. Light the fuse and where it lands, it lands.
  13. This is insanity! I'm following as well, Tom. This will be one for the books.
  14. Ron, I'm honestly not sure, but it certainly needs it. That goofy setup is certainly toylike. I think the gear legs are plenty strong OOB, if I remember correctly, they have wire inserts for strength. It's been 7 or 8 years since I built mine, and it's still sitting quite nicely in the cabinet. I even used the rubber wheels too. I'm pretty sure resin wheels are available but I haven't bought any.
  15. Jeroen, these weren't guided were they? I thought they were purely ballistic. Why would they need a radio system, or is it a proximity fuse or something to arm the warhead once it was safely on it's way?
  16. I'll be watching for this build. this ought to be good. The Tamiya A6M2 was the very first LSM I built when I got back into large scale modeling. I built it box stock, and I'd now love to take one to the next level. They're a sweet build except for the silliness with the retractable gear and spring loaded inner gear doors.
  17. Haha@Gaz Believe me, I thought about exactly that. But I’m an Eastern front guy so I was thinking 65/70/71, with a splash of 04.
  18. Which is why I really appreciate you guys. I think Glen thought it’d be fitting to watch a prop guy struggle through a jet, but I will prevail! I’ll do some looking and get the right shade tomorrow. I can quite nicely spot it in. I have a fairly steady hand and it should be OK.
  19. Yeah I think it’s close. It needs a bit more blue shade on the darkest color.
