So the moral of the story is? Don’t fool yourself into building support equipment without something to support? Either way, it resulted in a gorgeous build. I’m quite impressed the maintenance crew didn’t pull the engine and gut the cockpit of all useable equipment. That wouldn’t have been nice

Another stunning Corsair, John. They all can’t be totally tore up, and it’s nice to see a GSB bird showing minimal wear. But I guess the Navy kites were kept in a higher state of cleanliness than the land based Jarhead kites.

A flawless build, and unlike the majority of us mere mortals who load on the Aires to show our extreme laziness towards scratchbuilding, (yep, that’s me, I only do it when needed, and look for the easiest way) you took what was there and kitted it out to perfection. Bravo! I have three Vipers in the stash now, one Tamiya, and a couple Academy two holers. I’m scared of jets, lol, and I know I won’t achieve these kinds of results.

John, that looks fabulous, although the patches show use, the rest of the machine shows clean. It must have been a brand new machine when it too it’s first baptism of fire. I like the Fly kit. It’s a challenging, but not too challenging kit. And given the importance of the Hurricane throughout the war, precious little interest has been paid to it by the major model manufacturers.

Thanks for that, Maru. Aigore looks like he has his hands full, and it also looks like JetMads customer service is also up to the task. I’m surprised with the instrument panel’s soft detail. I wonder if that was just a one off booboo or will it be across the entire kit fun.

Gazz, here in the USA, it’s 230 to my door with discounts. That includes around 35 bucks freight. Tamiya and ZM kits are often more expensive than that.

Yes, I grabbed another for myself as well. One will be the splinter camo, (it’s just too cool) and the second MUST be NMF. I can’t resist a good NMF. If you look at Tony Fokker’s 1920s airliners, they use exactly the same technology he used through the latter half of WW1: Welded steel truss fuselage, and wood wings. Those airliners we’re the best in the world for years. They play huge in not only opening up Canada’s north, but also in the history of Australia. It was the crash of a Fokker Trimotor airliner that led directly to the development of the Douglas DC-1 and 2. Then of course, the DST, which led directly to the DC-3, and since then, the world has never been the same. I respect the crap out of Tony Fokker. He was just like Henry Ford. He had a good formula and absolutely refused to update his way of thinking. Hard headed just like Ford, but he made money and didn’t like change. Unfortunately, Tony Fokker didn’t have a son like Edsel Ford who could work around his stodgy dad and save the Company. Fokker’s designs were good. But the wood wings needed special care that hard working revenue equipment just wasn’t going to get. So eventually, one failed in a thunderstorm and the rest is history.

I saw their Brough Superior in 1/9. That’s another bucket list bike almost as unreachable as the Vincent.

Yeah, you don’t need to hide those brakes. Damn…. I never got into car models. I’d like to do an 1/8 or so antique motorcycle, but it would need to be something off the beaten path, like a Vincent Black Shadow or Lightning. Or even an Ace, Indian, or Henderson 4. Lord knows I’ll never own a real Vincent. Those things are selling north of $900,000

I’m so weird when it comes to building. I’ll start a kit, then shelve it. Then, 2, 3, or even 4 years later it comes roaring back.

I am absolutely NOT a helo guy, but these killer eggs are really fun little kits. I stopped work on it because I couldn’t figure out the bottom tabS on the sling seats I think they need removing. No biggie, the seats are just sitting there

I just noticed I need to scratch in some canopy rails…

I’m starting to like how this early war scheme with the oversized markings is looking. This scheme was only used for a month or two… my only regret being I should have cut masks for it these decals are BIG and it was way more trouble getting them blemish free than it would have been to simply mask and paint them on I’m thinking after decals, sprinkle on the salt then mist a grimy grey wash over it, clean, then repeat with a darker wash. I don’t think it’ll need anything more than that.

Omaha is right smack in the middle of the Country. It’s a 6 hour drive for me and Joy and I will definitely be there. I’ll be bringing 3 or 4 models I expect, and I think we can get a good bunch together for this one and have a really good time. LET’s do it!

That Fokker Trimotor is absolutely mind blowing.

Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong. I get it. There never has been the “perfect” 109 made yet. And the vast majority of modelers crave these aircraft. And I’m glad that finally, those models will finally be available. I just don’t understand kitmakers. The 109 is, and always has been the most popular aircraft subject ever built, we’ve never had a truly accurate 109G, yet here it is, 2021 and we now are potentially just getting that model. Heck, up till 8 years ago or so, we still didn’t have a good P-51D
