  1. And we’ve been working overtime, trying to get the barn renovated in time for the cold winter. We have the spray foam complete, it looks like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man attacked it, then painted it flat black, then now comes the corrugated roofing steel. Electrical is finished as well. Think Junkers or Ford aircraft. That kind of stuff. Like culverts. Then, a divider wall for the man cave/lounge, and build a bar. Got both jukeboxes working. The 1948 AMI will be in the lounge, and the 1954 Rock-Ola Comet Fireball will be with the old cars. Plenty of shop tools to find homes for, but we’re building shelves on the far wall for that exact purpose, oh, and for my wife’s Christmas decorations as well.
  2. I’ve never been a Jeep guy at all. Never really got “it”. I used real Jeep’s in the Army and had my fill of them. But the Gladiator pickup has me thinking…. I wanted a Toyota Hilux with twin .50s swivel mounted in the back, but I bowed to political correctness on that one, but maybe, just maybe, a Gladiator in that German Grey-green Jeep is selling them in, might just work. I like them slightly lifted, bo fancy wheels, just plain black or body color, and proper all season rubber, not these off road sand grabbers they’re selling them with these days.
  3. Glad to hear you’re slowly healing. With all the seniors in our family, we all had both our shots as well, and so far, we’ve seen not gotten it. My wife has Lupus, so we’re VERY careful. We lost a good friend to it last week. Had both shots, he was 46, fit and able bodied, a working cowboy/rancher, 6’1” 190 lbs all muscle and bone. Prime of life. He caught it somewhere, and three days later he was dead. It affects some people differently for some reason. In the meantime, the rest of us are remembering all we forgot about tending to cattle. It’s more than water, feed, and salt licks, y’all. Oh yay.
  4. I have Vigge s inbound somewhere. My last communication with JetMads was 6 weeks ago and they told me mine should go out the last week of October. Well, here we are and still no shipping notification, so hopefully next week? It’s maddening because everyone else is getting theirs.
  5. man, y'all ressurected this ancient thread, but the F6 looks as good now as it did then. I remember when these Hobbycraft kits were around and nobody wanted them. They were selling for 15 dollars all over the place. People didn't notice that companies like Vector were producing very good resin stuff for these, and that should have been the first clue. Anyway, I had bought a few cases of these models, knowing that they were a surefire no brainer way to make a buck or two. Now I'm down to my last several kits and those are mine, to be built by me. I hope we see more and more of these get built.
  6. Awesome times! Wow! Im trying to imagine a Portofino, is that a mushroom?
  7. Yeah I hear you there. Real air cooled tax stamp 1919s sell for around 30-35. For that money, I’d have a 34, a 42, or an MG3, even though they’re still active duty all over the world.
  8. I hope we can get together sometime soon, but in the meantime, HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! I hope you and yours are having a truly awesome day! E
  9. What truly sux is my first Viggen batch order is within 50 of the end. So late October they say. Dangit.
  10. Martin, the 58 Ford has to be the absolute ugliest Ford produced in the 50s. I think I bought this for about a hundred bucks back a few years ago. It takes a lot of vision to see anything but the world’s ugliest sculpture here. But the 1950s Ford retractable hardtop system has always fascinated me. It’s all mechanical. No hydraulics. Screw jacks, flexible driveshafts, limit switches, solenoids, and about a half mile of wiring.
  11. Next week we have a crew coming to insulate our metal barn out back, so we rented a shipping container and have some guys here working to move stuff out of garage into the box. Along with a ton of old Harley and Indian stuff, I uncovered this…. A 58 Fairlane 500 Skyliner retractable hardtop. Probably the ugliest Ford ever made, but it’s a real running machine. Took it down the Highway at 120 and it didn’t even break a sweat. The roof cycles perfectly, and the cas full power everything. So I have what I need and I’ll fix the old Ford up. It’s 100% rust free, despite its 17 different color scheme. The fi I shed car is something I can e vision.
  12. You and me both re the Fairey Battle. My ex FIL learned the art of aerial gunnery from the backseat of one of those. Despite me being a Yank, my secret obsession is FAA and RAF stuff. I’m a High Speed Silver fanatic.
  13. Well, my vote is for a Hawker Henley. 😇 For some odd misguided reason, I really love that plane.
  14. This is actually a very good thing. A Wingnut quality Spitfire 1. The last Spitfire 1 we had was that 1960s Revell release, which, ironically enough, is pretty close to being the most accurate one out there. Hasegawa tried, and missed, but other than the underbelly/wing fillet, did a very credible job.
  15. The Mk.1 is an iconic design, and quite possibly the purest Spitfire variant there is. I can see one in bare metal for me.
  16. I'd love to come down sometime, but it's a long way to drive a rod or an old car. I wouldn't trust the 35 hot rod, and the 56 and 57 both are serious cars that I'd be scared to have out too far away from home. Especially that 56. They only made 545 of them, and a deer would ruin my day.
  17. Here it is, folks. This should make alot of people VERY happy. https://www.kotare-models.com/products/k32001-132-spitfire-mkia-late
  18. Buffalo is looking up… I goobered up the tail decals, then made a mess out of painting the stripes on, now I’ll try it again, this time taking more care. The Killer Egg was the result of getting pissed off at the Buffalo for a few days. I’m not a helo guy, but that little kit is a really precise and nice building kit. Haven't got as much bench time as I really wanted, simply because I’ve been enjoying the summer with the old cars.
  19. Pete, being that you’re in Arizona and this is in Texas, could you just not fit a real 1919? They’re certainly out there.. Awesome job, BTW, and good to see you building
  20. Rudolf, you’ve do ez great job at showing the true mass of these German behemoths, the true granddaddy of the modern Main Battle Tank.
  21. So the moral of the story is? Don’t fool yourself into building support equipment without something to support? Either way, it resulted in a gorgeous build. I’m quite impressed the maintenance crew didn’t pull the engine and gut the cockpit of all useable equipment. That wouldn’t have been nice
  22. And a scheme we don’t often see. Great build, John!
  23. Another FLAWLESS build. Now I need another bloody kit, an Italari Mirage.
  24. Another stunning Corsair, John. They all can’t be totally tore up, and it’s nice to see a GSB bird showing minimal wear. But I guess the Navy kites were kept in a higher state of cleanliness than the land based Jarhead kites.
  25. A flawless build, and unlike the majority of us mere mortals who load on the Aires to show our extreme laziness towards scratchbuilding, (yep, that’s me, I only do it when needed, and look for the easiest way) you took what was there and kitted it out to perfection. Bravo! I have three Vipers in the stash now, one Tamiya, and a couple Academy two holers. I’m scared of jets, lol, and I know I won’t achieve these kinds of results.
