1. Paulo, Actually they are the same aircraft, NV724; a higher resolution version of your first pic shows this. His earlier Tempest didn't carry the same markings. Hope this helps, Tom http://www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?8525.10
2. Paulo, For whatever it's worth, I've seen photos of this aircraft with and without the "Le Grand Charles" inscription. In any case, your build will be stellar. Cheers, Tom
3. Cees, you are very kind! Thanks! I used masks for most of it. Paulo, Thank you! I'll look forward to your build. Cheers, Tom
4. Jeroen, Thank you very much! I loved building this kit. Cheers, Tom
5. I read "The Big Show" twice, and always wanted to share my appreciation for Pierre Clostermann's book and exploits by building a 1/32 Tempest. When the PCH kit came out I almost bought it, but kept getting impressive updates from Special Hobby. I'm glad I waited! Tamiya paints, Maketar Masks, and not much else. The kit is very worth it. Just two things I noted: attach the forward fuselage halves to their respective rear counterparts first, to get a good fit. Also, the Tempest had a distinctive anhedral/dihedral when seen from the front, but I found the fit of the fuselage to the upper wings forced them outward and down, exaggerating this effect. To compensate I sanded back the fuselage where it attached to the upper wings. Cheers, Tom
6. Danny, While I've now seen quite a few builds of this awesome kit, yours has to be the best I've seen so far. The cockpit and the engine are amazing! Thanks for sharing your build. Cheers, Tom
7. James, Very nice and inspiring work! Any updates? By the way, Maketar is releasing a mask set for this kit. Cheers, Tom
8. Danny, I wish you a fast recovery. Thanks for sharing that great cockpit, and the heads-up about the Montex mask! Cheers, Tom
9. This is epic! I applaud your skills--in particular, that extra cockpit is great. Cheers, Tom
10. Thanks for sharing this! It will be helpful with my build. Cheers, Tom
11. Jeroen, Sweet build, presentation, and photography! Most inspiring. Cheers, Tom
12. Exquisite painting and weathering! Very inspiring. Cheers, Tom
13. Very nice and original work! Cheers, Tom
14. Ralph, Nice work! I don't see these built so much these days. Cheers, Tom
15. Nick, I purchased them from here: https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/browse.php?kw=white,marker I used an acrylic-based clearcoat underneath in case I needed to remove any mistakes with the marker; I could use an enamel thinner without worrying about what was underneath. Cheers, Tom
16. Mike, Thanks! I'm looking into building a B/R version next. Cheers, Tom
17. Thank you! I used an enamel marker, after some practice on a scrap model; I wanted to replicate a mop-applied whitewash pattern. Cheers, Tom
18. The cannon-bearing Stuka looks different already, but I wanted this build to be a little more distinctive! --Hasegawa Ju-87G-1 --Eduard interior photoetch --MasterCasters main landing gear struts (without spats, mastered by AlaninAustria) --Quickboost propeller blades --Quickboost exhaust --Voyager spinner --Voyager 37mm cannons --RLM 65, 70, and 71 using Tamiya custom colors. I was almost at the painting stage when I started the build in 2012 when the model took a dive off a bookshelf with suboptimal results...I recently rescued it. Thanks for looking in, and all comments welcome. Cheers, Tom
19. Truly outstanding! Both the unusual subject and the quality of your build. Cheers, Tom
20. Thanks to all of you for the kind comments! Cheers, Tom
