You just have to use women logic against them. The 'I bought it on sale' one is a good one along with 'my friend gave it to me' and the classic, when she notices a new kit and asks 'when did you buy that?' the reply is always 'oh I've had this a long time'. She's not going to question you because she knows when she wears those 300 pair of new shoes and you ask 'are those new?' and she replies ' no I bought them ages ago, they were on sale' she doesn't want you questioning her any deeper.

This is my best I'd say. Trumpeters 1/35 BR 52 Locomotive.

Sherman, King Tiger and Panther monuments at the Ardennes.

The Panther could use a little restoration and it looks like that Tiger II has taken 3 direct hits to the frontal armour. -
I still have a tin of Humbrol gloss black that's older than me. It takes a day to dry but you can't damage it with a hammer.

This is the old kit from Revell. I think all they did was put some new pieces in their PFM kit to make an MF. Detail is lacking, the cockpit is a mess and inaccurate with the molds and fit are not up to what you'd expect today. Rather than chuck it out I thought I'd just build it as is, for the detail sets would cost more than simply buying the rather nice Trumpeter kit. Mark was nice enough to send me a pilot from the Trumpeter kit and Tony some VPAF markings (thanks guys) and I scrounged some sidewinders from an old Revell F-4E kit to stand in for R3-S missiles as they were pretty much Russian made sidewinder copies anyway. I was meaning to represent red 5040, the MiG 21 nightfighter that allegedly shot down a B-52 during the 1972 Christmas bombings, but I mucked up the masks for the numbers several times and rage quit them, so I'm calling it done. Unfortunantly its a grey old day in Melbourne for taking pictures, as you can see.

Interesting fact about the world cup; you're more likely to be bitten by a Suarez than a shark

Oooops. Doesn't look like there's too much damage so I'm sure it will be repaired.

One bloke really likes submarines, he enters about 10 every year.

Cees - yeh Kev was there. A few of the LSP guys were. Erik - Mirages, you have no idea. One of the guys has a complete instrument panel and now a canopy. I said he should just go to Pakistan and buy one of our old mirages, it would be easier than getting bits at a time.

Mig 3 1:32 Trumpeter
BradG replied to Jacek K's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Very nice indeed. -
I got these today at a swap and seller who had a little garage sale. I nearly picked up a Stuka for the group build, but I just gotta stop at some point. I've only built 3 kits of mine this year but added 8 to the stash. I have to build a few more but I've just about filled my cabinet, so I might need to make some storage space for older builds.

It will sell well in the UK, maybe well in Europe but I'm not sure it will be a big seller in the US or rest of the world. It looks really well done and I'm sure a build review beforehand will help sales figures. If you want it buy it, because I don't see it being in production long as most who want it will snap it up straight away.

No, if I'm building something I always at least google it to read something.

I had this kit laying in the stash for years. Dad bought it at a swap and sell for the drop tanks and then gave it to me, but it was missing the spinner. Fortunately Wumm was able to send me a replacement and Iain sent me some decals for Israeli Mustangs he wasn't going to use which probably saved it from being turfed into the bin (because I don't normally build older kits). I scribed some surface detail including dzus fasteners and knocked back all the raised rivets and panel lines. I did consider putting a resin cockpit in, but for the price, it just wasn't worth it. It's not a bad older model and although being surpassed by the Tamiya offering, if you're on a budget you can generally pick this kit up for 20 bucks at a swap and sell. As for white 19, it was shot down by ground fire over the Sinai peninsula in October 1956.

Walked into a local toy store that was having a 50% off the lowest sticker price sale as they are moving locations and found these two. Orginally 82 dollars, down to 65 and then half off that, well I couldn't walk past them. There was nothing else worth buying in the models section.

I've been watching a lot of combat film from the civil war over there and was mightly impressed by the T-72's ability to burn from just a single RPG hit and I wouldn't mind building one. Since I have pretty much no idea what's out there for post 1945 armour, suggestions anyone?

The Bargain Bin... Where is that latest Hot Deal!
BradG replied to Dave J's topic in Modelling Discussion
At 34.99 it's still too much for a Trumpeter kit. -
