  1. L.O.L!!!! I used to love scampy and chips in Edinborough when I was a motorcycle courier up your way Gus...lovely!!
  2. Look at it this way Gus - the missile can't have tasted any better than Haggis!!!
  3. No worries Gus - the offer is there is you need them. Looking forward to seeing your paint job!
  4. Whoa...I have just had a look through my Strike Eagle box..and PRESTO! Another AIM-7, in perfect nick - yours if want them Gus! I just need an address.
  5. ...In fact Gus I have 2 AIM-7's you can have mate - one has a foward control vane missing but I am sure I can find one for you...
  6. Gus you have my sympathies mate - I think we all know how THAT feels! If you need another AIM-7 Gus - put your address details here and I'll get one in the post to you(Or could we go through one of our site Administrators and do it that way if you want Gus). It's only Revell - but it is dimensionally accurate; it just needs a wee tickle up with a bit of sandpaper and there is a small ding in it I am sure is a mold fault. Or, if you are feeling a wee bit more adventurous, you could now finish the Jack Russell in Israeli colors - a great paint job and some weathering and you won't even notice the Jack Russell anymore!!!! (Just think of how cool the dog would look with all those munitions slung off the side!!)
  7. Sorry Gus - me again! Don't stress about having your mixes too thin mate. Just use your normal mix. I always use a thin, watery mix, that's just me.(Do make sure you keep your airbrush scrupulously clean - I clean my brush after each session, then leave some thinner in the paint cup and spray this through before the next session)and I also dab at the needle as well to keep it clean, or you will get 'spitting' when brushing watery mixes. You can get away with using whatever paint mix you normally use. Have a crack on the old Skyray - you'll see what I mean!Oh, and don't get hung up on what type of salt to use...I use table salt and it works just fine!
  8. No mate - usual story. The big Corporate gives you a product, and it's take it or leave it... If I am wrong in this I sure wish Revell would prove me wrong. I understand Gus; airbrushing is something you improve upon as you go along, and, as you say, have a practice model. I have two old fuselage halves from a Trumpy 32 scale Stringbag I practice on. I have been mixing my paint to the consistency of almost water and lightly spraying, controlling the flow as I go. Tell you what though Gus, I am right impressed with the result this technique gives! All in good time Sir... Regards Dennis
  9. Hi Gus, I agree mate...the weather here can do many things in the space of a day! I don't know (you probably have) heard of this salt weathering finish Gus. I was a bit skeptical so I am trying it on a 1/32 F-14A at the moment (the Hawk bit the dust and hit the bin sadly, but that's another story), and I thought I'd mention it as such a finish would look great on your F-15. It comes out very realistic, and with Israeli military kit being so exposed to the elements the salt finish would be quite appropriate. Have you seen this before Gus?
  10. I cannot wait to see this painted Gus...I know from your Mig to expect something special - by the way mate, I remember sun shining when I was last in Scotland - even when it was raining at the same time!
  11. Good Morning Gus, Any progress on the big F-15?
  12. Nice project Rick - Special Hobby do appear to have improved their kits significantly. The detail looks nice and crisp ( or is that your digital camera Rick??).
  13. Thank you for your thoughts Rick. To date I have not received anything in the way of a response from Revell either. It saddens me to think it is Corporates with this mentality we pay our hard earned money to for their products. If I were you Rick, I would email Revell back and let them know how you feel as a Consumer, and detail the issue you have with one of their kits again. Surely Revell must listen to a structured and well considered voice of discontent...one hopes. I
  14. Fantastic models! - I hope you don't mind...I have downloaded many of them for my desktop so I can view them at leisure offline.
  15. ...A footnote. I have had to bin this project, such was the gravity of the issues I faced. I am certain this may well be simply a (very) bad production run of kits; as an Engineer I emailed Revell and detailed my concerns from both an Engineering and Consumer standpoint, to which Revell have not responded. As I have previously stated, this is not a simple groan and moan session. These kits are primarily aimed at the younger, less experienced individual many of whom, confronted by the issues I have experienced, will simply not only bin the kit, but potentially walk away from our hobby as well. Revell have put out beautiful kits ( albeit with , at times, questionable Engineering), and I will continue to buy their better products, that is to say, those aimed at the more 'senior' end of the modeler spectrum. I am also aware Revell are not the only company guilty of putting out product simply not worthy of our hard earned dollar ( a fact I feel is lost on some of these Manufacturers ). I t is my hope somebody at Revell has read my email, and does care enough about the issues raised to do something about it in future.
  16. Don't come down to New Zealand then!!!!
  17. Good Morning Andrew, You don't mention what level of accuracy and finish you are after with your project - aftermarket products are fantastic and will take your project to 'the next level', however it may well be that a well made, well observed and weathered model is what you are after. If accuracy is what you are after Andrew, there are a myriad of research palliatives out there, both on computer and in books. Then, of course, there are the guys here who are fantastic and will help you. Iceman covered your aftermarket options very well, but in my humble opinion, you can spend as much again as the cost of the kit on aftermarket, but if you haven't thought through what you want out of the project before you begin you may well end up disappointed and that isn't the aim here... Remember Andrew, there is scratch building, if you are so inclined. Have a think about what you want, throw up some images and create a build link here so the guys can get involved and help you out! (Just my humble opinions here...)
  18. Good question - they were planned, and we were asked to come in and build them, then everything fell apart again and we were let go. There was a huge model built of the Dam and gunnery towers - but I have no idea what has become of it. It was most probably broken up and put into storage. The 6th scale Lancasters were to be radio controlled and inter cut with , if memory serves me correctly, 4th scale hero sections that were to be used for green screen shots. I am thinking now WETA would probably build just one physical miniature and use that to scan into massive, Maya or similar and 'build' what else they need in the computer..
  19. About six years ago now I was involved in the planning stages of miniature building - there were to be several 1/6 scale Lancasters and a massive miniature of the Dam constructed. Then all that fell apart and we went about our way...I know young Christian Rivers was slated to direct by Peter Jackson...
  20. Beautiful, restrained, disciplined work Paulo - really great! I like the way in which you have weathered the cockpit interior, yet it remains 'tight' and doesn't 'look' weathered. Awesome!- Do you plan on weathering the exterior in the same manner?
  21. Agreed Ralph!(not sure about the smell though...I tried to smell one and nearly put the thing right up my nostril!) - I now prefer the Vallejo colors to my Tamiya acrylics. Vallejo also make a great line of pigments which I spied at the recent Nats here in New Zealand. They look great!
  22. Excellent job! - I know a little something about building unbuildable kits...you are to be congratulated Sir on a fine job, and sticking at it!
  23. I have emailed Revell detailing the concerns I have with this product...now we wait.
