  1. Roger that Carl, with luck it should be one day soon, my son and daughter in law are stationed in Ottawa ( Oddawa?) so a top over maybe in the cards...
  2. all I want to know............ Harv...................... did you get CAKE ?
  3. Well, maybe I should clarify my position...... well not really,, I don't want you guys to think I paint the whole kit with a brush, I actually have 3 airbrushes , that I use a lot, except for the dual action one...... still trying to get that baby under control, so far I have had good luck and success with the Badger airbrushes, and all mine are siphon and not gravity feed, as I am trying to step into the dark side with acrylics, I feel I might need a gravity feed airbrush, but don't want to break the bank doing that...... I use the brush for mostly the smaller details and like Ernie, I am finding I am sucking at the brush thing now too..... as an example, it seems to me that the semi gloss black ( Model Master enamels, which I am a die hard user with excellent results ) I use, always shows terrible streaks and doesn't cover as what I precieved it used to..... when I look at the incredible work ALL you guys post, I look at mine and want to barf..... because my results are far less than what I was hoping for, at least in my eyes.... I have been dabbling at this hobby for longer than I want to say, and it seems to me that I am not really progressing to the levels I was or am seeing here... I'm not crying ( yet) but I am just trying to figure if I'm doing something very different from you guys, and for the most part, no I'm not......... I am loving the feed back here as it is giving me lots to think about and to try.... always good to get different ideas and techniques......... this is very interesting....
  4. wow, you guys............................ see , what I mean when I say there is huge talent here, yeah Martin , my heroes too........Chris is more of a pro, in my mind, but then Wolf and William... they are in a class of their own................. I only dream of talent like that, and try as I might , I don't even come close...... oh and for the record, I'm a Model master paint guy too, have been for eons..... it seems to work for me, but I have bought some of the stuff that will take me to the dark side.. LOL!!! paint that is.....
  5. Yeah, that's kind of where I was going, but some of the fabulous builds here show some incredible skills, and I am wondering about masking etc, so it got me to thinking maybe more brush stuff that is known..... I just sometimes find it a pain to get the airbrush out and fired up... lazy?
  6. Ok, I am working on, and trying to get some bench time and am chugging away on a multitude of projects.....today's little get away from reality was a 1/48 scale Bell Kiowa, converting to a Jet Ranger BIII..................... the question is, ..................... as I was slopping a little paint on the seats....................................... how much of a kit do you guys actually paint or detail with a brush? And what sort of brushes to you guys use? I have a few of those little micro brushes, and find they can come in handy,I also have an assortment of fairly decent brushes, but have had little luck or no luck at all with the old toothpick trick...... but how much of a kit do you guys 'brush' paint? For me it actually depends , if I can get a lot of it shot with an airbrush still on the sprue, I do, if not then it becomes an adventure with the brush......................just wondering if I need to up grade some skills....
  7. AAAHHHHH Yeah, now I think I saw something one time on Discovery Channel about them hauling the F-1 cars...... Trenton!? Really.... cool....
  8. So, if the AN 124's are flying in and out of DFW................... what are they hauling.................. besides vodka?? Surely we don't drink THAT much vodka do we?? Oh, geez, maybe we have a drinking issue? Seriously, what's coming and going?? Just curious.... as I'm sure I will NEVER see one of these for real.................
  9. Although not MY car, this is exactly what I had, back in the day...... color ,stripe the whole bit.... except mine had chrome bumpers,
  10. The one in Nanton is taxiable, but just no room yet, they are going to expand the museum tarmac, so she can stroll around...... all the systems work in her, so once the pavement is down she will be moving........ yeah , Carl, I heard the movement of FM104 was a bit contentious in your neck of the woods eh?......it's hard to give something up that has been with you for a very long time, but it will be a good thing in the end... and the valiant effort put in by the guys trying to get her restored down your way won't go amiss or be forgotten, and with what they do here, the whole country, vets, and all who were lost , and those interested, will see a flying tribute......... they do good work out west here........I'm just glad it didn't get tossed in a hangar somewhere while everyone fought about it....... she will fly again..... that is the COOLEST part....
  11. Those brass barrels are awesome, I put a set in my 1/48 Mossie, and it made all the difference, they will look perfect....
  12. https://www.cheknews.ca/lancaster-bomber-fm104-arrives-at-bc-aviation-museum-494084 A little tid bit on FM 104 for you... one day hopefully soon to be back where she belongs.............. IN THE AIR ! http://warbirdsnews.com/uncategorized/avro-lancaster-fm104-heading-west-to-british-columbia-aviation-museum.html
  13. Hey Ernie, I agree 10000% that is one of the prettiest Lancs ever to get paint...... who are you going to do the decals from?? I may have an idea or two.... NOW I can't wait for you to get this kit, and start a wip, so I can salivate over your build..... I LOVE our post war birds, they were the most colorful of all, and I am kind of done with this sterile grey stuff now these days............. is it here yet?? Is it here yet?? Is it here yet???
  14. well, Bill, that would be great, I will look forward to that.....
  15. I agree, Bill, they look top drawer........ are you planning a wip here??? I'd love to sit in if you are.....
  16. Carl.................... looks like Harv has good taste...................................... I'll catch the next available flight and drop by for a snort.................... of 'Airbrush Cleaner '.....................
  17. I'm a little bit leery of 'pre-orders' , especially after the Aviaology thing that transpired over the past couple years....... pre orders maybe not so much but will support and buy when ready to go and in full operational sales mode., for me at least....... so which 'one' . Bill?? or both ?
  18. Could be a LOOOONNNNGGGG Winter too....... well, maybe not in Texas, but you get my drift......
  19. This is going to be a full re-paint?..................... I hope,......as there are many blacks, and it has to be perfect, and BTW, that hood is gonna be COOL!!!!
  20. "a new WING to my house"......................................
  21. James, I agree, FWIW.................. all the "Bovine Excrement" that is being tossed around , to which I am gob smacked at, BECAUSE, a few years ago who would have ever thought that we would have a BIG Lanc, and the possibility of TWO big Lancs....................AND the fact that you , my friend are the FIRST to showcase one, is awesome in my book...... IF there are items that one doesn't like in the kit, then the guy building has a couple choices, first off , don't buy it, second, fix it or third leave it, and press on..... we are most definitely blessed with ALL of these kits, I still can't get over the melt down due to the fact that there are going to be 2 1/32 scale Lancasters...... did I miss the melt down on the TWO 1/32 scale Mosquito kits when they came out.........................................?? I am looking forward to watching this come together, and I echo the comments above my post here...... this is an exciting time for sure...... I will lurk in the back ground and take this in like a new drug ! Thanks for sharing this with us......
