  1. Wow, talk about thread drift on this one....
  2. I very intrigued, I was starting to imagine I could print some fuselage bulkheads on styrene with rivet detail embossed, maybe even instrument panels, etc.
  3. Ok, now you have to tell us the the story.
  4. With Christmas coming up, my wife is hounding me for Xmas gift ideas, so something I have wanted, is something I can cut masks myself, after all I use them on 80% of all my builds, and the ones I don’t, I wish I had. So, I’m looking for some advice on a good cutter that is easy to use, and not more than $200. What have others used? What do you like, what don’t you like, what software is good?
  5. Ok, I’m a little slow sometimes.
  6. FYI, spruebrothers shows they have some in stock as of yesterday.
  7. I say you finish it OOB, and hand paint the whole thing! Finish as you would have back then, this way she won’t break your heart again.
  8. Thanks for the comments! I have to say building this 21st century kit was quick, it was odd, glue didn’t work well, possibly this is ABS plastic (?), it had great detail, but was missing things like rudder pedals and instrument faces, beautiful decals, but the worst part was the plugs to cover the screw holes. They were numbered, but no call outs in the instructions, also, they were a softer material, so during painting, the filler cracked all around them, so I have a few little circles down the side. Overall, I’m happy and will try to find a few more aircraft for some quick one week builds. Next time I’m going to try to use styrene discs to plug the holes, instead of what I am assuming is some type of vinyl(?).
  9. My goal was to have her done today, didn’t quite make it. I still need to spray dullcoat and wash, fix a split seam in front of the windscreen, and the carpet monster claimed the gun barrels, so I need to dig up some master barrels I ordered not long ago. But since it is Dec 7, here it is.
  10. Decals this morning...looks like I’m going to make it! Dec 7 finish date!
  11. More paint work, I’ll try to do decals tomorrow.
  12. I have yet to figure that out. I have some plastiweld to try on the next one.
  13. Here is my progress, I started Nov 28, I have about 8-9 hours in it. most of that is sanding. The construction is done with screws, then you insert plastic plugs into the holes, which don't fit well. So I had to shave them flush, apply filler, and sand. there were at least 9-10 plugs, the plastic does not like Tamiya thin, and liked the thick stuff even less. the one amazing thing about this kit, no sprue gates, nothing to sand and trim!
  14. OOPS! ill post a new thread in Works in Progress.
  15. moving post
  16. I agree, its a better fitting kit that the Hasegawa, the Trump P-40 was easier and quicker, just don't waste any time painting anything other than the top of the engine if you will have a lift off cowl, you cant see any detail below it..
  17. good looking model, but i Don't know what the hell the US was thinking sending these to fight against German tanks...
  18. how are these compatible with acrylic paints, fillers, and primers?
  19. very cool, thank you!
  20. Awesome, thanks, when I googled it, the link to me to the European site.
  21. I find it odd that they are releasing the exact same variants that Hobbycraft had. Maybe they bought their old molds and are revamping them?
  22. I have been itching to try these, but when I go to their site, they tell me no shipping to USA. I can’t find a US distributor. Where do people get these?
  23. It looks like the old Hobbycraft A-36, P-51, and P-51A are being re-released by Special Hobby. Could it be a coincidence? Maybe they will include some much needed resin and PE with them.
