  1. Yes! I knew I could find a use for him.........Er, ...it! Seriously, I bought this thing after seeing Carl's T Rex, and I had ten dollars worth of rewards points off at Megahobby. Being a fan of the 1953 movie, I thought it might be a fun diversion.
  2. Ok., time for something different! From Pegasus Hobbies; their The War of the Worlds "The Martian" (No. 9008). In 1/8 scale. This is a vinyl kit having just 13 parts. Three of the parts are molded in clear styrene. These are the two eye inserts and the base. Assembly can be done without glue....I was able to plug together the vinyl parts for my pictures and then take it apart again easily. The model comes with two pairs of arms. This is the martian from the 1953 movie btw. The airbrush, well, that's to show...scale.
  3. Nice work Carl!. I have the same kit, it looks challenging. I wonder why they went with link & length, as the original Weasels had rubber tracks!
  4. Saw it too....wasn't interested. While I like SB, I don't buy from them excluively. I often find Scalehobbyist has better pricing.
  5. I was thinking of all the big-scale 1/16 kits of this year...All cool stuff, but probably not to everyone else's tastes. I want, someday, to build a Spitfire, but not sure the way to go; If big..Airfix, Tamiya.. Always dependable. Kotare..an Unknown for me. No engine on the Kotare, no problem. Displaying engines not a big interest of mine....I don't care for fiddly bits and lost engine cowlings. Besides I kind of like the spirit of a new manufacturer, and the option of an early Spitfire. Well, the Airfix...It's Big! Not sure. I know, I haven't posted anything aircraft, but oddly, that's where I started, years back. Armor, well, that's only a (relatively) recent thing. Not sure as now, perhaps conflicted.... Well. Here comes the nurse.. Abigail tonight ,with my medication. Nice pills, feel soo relaxed afterwards! See you in the ...morning. Oooh! A rabbit outside my window!
  6. Amazing work! Too bad about the base though.
  7. I also have the Dspiae cutter..... Very useful, especially when doing the wheels on tanks. I use vinyl sheets for the masks...those intended for use on Cricut cutters. These work well, and if careful, can be used again. Nice work on the Zero!
  8. Jeeeeez Carl! You keep yourself busy! Anyway, curious about what paint to use on vinyl figures...Years ago, I painted a Mercury Astronaut figure with..as memory serves me, Tamiya silver lacquer spray. Well, the dude never dried properly... He remained sticky. So, very interested in the correct paint to use....I have my eyes on a Pegasus 1/8 Martian figure.. I'm sure Tamiya acrylics would probably be fine, but, other products? Fillers, putty, thinners, etc.
  9. I built that Tamiya Valentine...great kit. I'd like to see more real space kits released and I hope you share your build of that Gemini capsule!
  10. Once again, a great finished project! Nicely done John!
  11. As a long-time collector of steam engines.... Particularly those by Mamod, I was pleased by this little gift. A Mamod Minor 1 circa about 1970 and apparently unfired, with its original box!
  12. Today, two items: First, a Christmas gift..... From SOL Resin Factory, their MM290 WWII Russian Female tank driver in 1/16 scale. I've been eyeing this figure for some time! Very nicely done, great detail..down to her fingers, which are separated and don't have that one-piece "mitten" look seen in some figures. For some reason they include 2 heads.....they look the same to me, but not sure. I have some 1/16 Trumpeter T-34s, and a big SU-100 that she's going to fit. She's posed as she is coming out the driver's hatch...toes resting on the seat. Next; is the M29c Weasel, as done by Takom in 1/35. I've been waiting for this, the amphibious version, to come out for awhile, already having the regular Weasel. Andy's Hobby Headquarters got these in stock about a week ago.
  13. Hey, great job on the conversion. A very different, and good-looking TBM.
  14. Holy Cow! Fantastic work!
  15. Glad to see you back Phil. Great work on the cockpit!
  16. Very cool! Thanks for posting!
  17. I pretty sure the Tamiya kit is an Italeri re-box....It looks like an interesting build. Your model looks great Ralph!
  18. Same here...the real reason I gave up on my big Trumpy T 72 was due to the fact I had to mask the rubber side skirts on the beast..not a small task. When I someday resume building it, I'm going to do the cammo version. Anyway, I'm sure your F4 will look great! Is that the Tamiya kit?
  19. Understood, just saying..... I have about 30 of these things. It's just what I do. Anyway, perhaps I'll do the same someday.
  20. I use glass eye droppers with the rubber bulb.....easy to clean and re-use. Pretty much solvent proof. They can even be used with Tamiya airbrush cleaner. I also have the 1/2 ounce solos. For mixing I have a couple of the Tamiya mixer/stirrer things. The dental mixers look like a good choice.
  21. I use something similar found on Amazon. I've ordered these a few Times. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006WITD52/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They also sell lids for these which work well....I've left mixed paint in these placed the lids on them and the lids sealed well and i was able to store the paints that way for some time.
  22. Had this problem last year about this time with a Tamiya Comet kit coming from China......stayed in customs in Chicago 10 days. I ordered from Australia a couple weeks ago...only spent one day in customs in L.A. I would agree...it's because the time of the year.
  23. Hey, saw that! Cool
