  1. Yep, it seems that way. Always something to have to contend with. 😐
  2. Thank you Ralph. I don't recall for certain where I got them but I think it was Aerocraft. Model Monkey has them too. https://aerocraftmodels.bigcartel.com/category/1-32nd?page=2 https://www.model-monkey.com/
  3. Unpleasant surprise! Was masking off the red nose and this happened. Always something........😐
  4. Thank you Gaz. I hope it will be worth the effort!
  5. Thank you Peter. It's worked out pretty well so far!
  6. Thanks Martin! I agree, the new nose makes quite a difference and now it LOOKS like a "B".
  7. Thank you Carl. Now it's on to the wings which should be straight forward, etc.
  8. The nose is on, seams filled and sanded, primer applied. I'll need to do a bit of scribing but it looks like a P-51B to me!
  9. Yes it is Peter. Still a ways to go on this one but I think I see a light at the end of the tunnel.
  10. Thanks Peter. The Revell nose is much better in several ways. The plastic is not nearly as thin and flexible as the Tamiya which is a big help in checking fit, etc. Seemed the Tamiya parts were always moving out of place when I was handling the kit and trying to get everything sorted out. Another thing is there's no need for the engine to be mounted which is a big help also. Just all around mo betta!
  11. Thank you Hubert. I agree! Looks like a P-51B for sure.
  12. Yes I do have some decals. Deacon Hively's a/c, 4th FG. OD/Gray w/invasion stripes. Taken from a old Aeromaster sheet, re-scaled to 1/32 and printed out on my laser printer.
  13. Just about ready to attach the nose halves. I added some strip styrene pieces for a better "grip".
  14. Thank you Carl. It looks to be coming along okay now (knock on wood!). I think the Revell nose will be a even better subject to use.
  15. Yes, it's all your fault! LOL Where's that little nose piece Peter?! 😄 Actually I guess I just took it for granted I had the part. Anyway, I think using the Revell parts will be easier so we will see.
  16. Change of plans! I find I don't have the little Tamiya nose piece with the air scoop. Brought this to a screeching temporary halt. So now here's the new plan. I have a Revell P-51D I had pirated parts from so I'll use it's nose. It has the right profile PLUS I won't have to mount a engine. Might just be a bit easier too!
  17. Test fitting looks okay. Now I can join the fuselage halves, etc then start on the real fun part, the nose.
  18. Been working on this Aires cockpit for a few days and now it's ready for install. A darn site better than the kit piece.
