Revell Spit IX RFI

Thank you Peter. This one came close to staying on the SOD but I'm glad I could go on and get the problem sorted out. I like the way it turned out too. -
Finished with this build: https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/20094-revell-spit-ix-rfi/

All done with this one. After market items are Barracuda seat and exhausts, and Eduard seat belts. The decals are from the Kagero book on Polish Spitfires. Paints used were Tamiya acrylic, Testor's enamel, and Colourcoats enamel. After getting past the terrible fit of the wings to fuselage join things went fairly smooth. I hope you guys like the finished model!

Any thoughts on the ICM 1/48 B-26 Marauder? Is it worth $100?

If I don't watch out you guys are going to convince me to get one! My plastic is already out of sight!🤪 -
I'm glad to help Chris. You are welcome!

Thank you Peter. I hope it is of some help at some point!

Maybe this will help Chris. This technique will work on most any model that needs the wings adjusted.

Lots of trimming, a bit of strip styrene, lots of putty, some CA adhesive and Zip Kicker, and LOTS of sanding. Oh, and a bit of a cuss factor! LOL I should have taken some photos as I went along but 20/20 is hindsight. If you ever build one be sure to tape the fuselage and wings together and do some test fitting. Trimming the wing to fuselage area is the main area to reduce. Or you can trim the wing roots. Just make it so there is a satisfactory dihedral and not a droop. I hope this helps!

So far so good!

Their DSB (or GSB) whichever initials you want to use, is/was 1st class. Too bad it's discontinued. If I can find some on ebay or some place I'd scoop it up for sure. Their acrylic version is okay and seems to work just fine.

Thank you. That was Testor's Model Master DSB which is very hard to find now.

I'm glad you think so Peter but THAT remains to be seen. LOL

Thanks Martin. I think it looks okay. I'm glad you like the way it turned out.

Back to this build. When I test fit the wings to fuselage they drooped. Bummer. Thanks to some strip styrene and CA adhesive that's pretty well sorted out but now I have a fair amount of puttying and sanding to do. Not my favorite part of building a model!

Thank you Kevin. I think it turned out fine. Glad you like it.

For a short time that was a bit "iffy" LOL.

I'm glad you like it Carl, thank you.

I'm calling this one done. A very nicely detailed kit which kind of reminds me of a scaled down Tamiya kit although there are differences. I had problems initially in getting the fuselage halves to mate properly as the interior sub assemblies seemed to want to move out of place whenever I thought I had everything sorted out. After stepping back from the build for a couple of days I was able to get all that sorted out. Painted with Tamiya Flat White, Colourcoats Intermediate Blue, and Testor's MM acrylic Dark Sea Blue (thanks to Chris for the bottle of DSB!). The national insignia decals are from my stash as are the side numbers #212. The ones supplied in the kit were a little over sized. Also, when referencing photos, it was noted the national insignias had no blue outline on the "bars" which was another reason to go to the stash for markings. The rest of the markings are kit decals. I decided against a lot of weathering for now but may go back at some point and do some of that. I hope you like the results of my efforts!

I'm happy to be back on it Martin. I finished painting earlier and am in the process of decaling now. When all that's done I'll attach the gear and other items. I expect to have it finished in a day or two barring unforseen problems.

Thank you Peter. It's going a bit faster than I expected.
