Bardahl Special racer revisited
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I have to say Peter I had been working on this build for a couple of weeks before I posted any photos. -
Thank you Peter. They are all in a display cabinet together with several other racer builds.

Bardahl Special racer revisited
JohnB replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Finished with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19676-bardahl-special-completed/ -
All done with this one. This is my 3rd Bardahl Special although one of them represents the a/c as it is today (and is numbered as "3" instead of "8") and the 1st two represent it back in the 60's. None are identical. I again used a Revell kit with appropriate mods such as a replacement prop and spinner, removal of the fuselage tank and a couple of others. I really like this particular a/c (I figured y'all figured that out by now!) but I think this will be the last Bardahl Special I build. I hope you like the results of my efforts. Remember please: Click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show.

Fingers crossed!

Really looking good Peter. Excellent paint work (as always). Sure will be a beauty when completed!

Thanks! I'm liking it too Peter. Overall white just "fits" the Mustangs I think. -
Thank you. Nice to have a "standby" build sometimes.
-
Thanks Martin. Since I haven't done any work on it since Sept. 15 (until today) there really haven't been many WIP's. Now, since it's about ready for paint, I hope to post some more WIP photos.

Thanks Kevin. In my opinion white really looks good on a P-51 like GSB looks good on a Gorsair. Sort of made for each other LOL. -

That would be fine if I ever WIN at Lotto but a bit out of place right now I think since I haven't won anything on Lotto. 🙃 -
While waiting for the paint to dry on the P-51 racer I decided to do some more work on this model. Well along now and it won't be long before I can paint the GSB.

LOL Peter. At least I had some Testor's Gloss White I could use to finish the paint job. I was a little leery about applying that over some areas that were already painted with acrylic but it worked out fine. Now it's set aside to allow the Testor's to thoroughly dry. -

Thank you Chris. No, I haven't seen those flaps but will take a look. Thanks! -

Got most of the painting done and ran out of acrylic paint. The undersides still need painting so now I'll see about using some Testor's enamel gloss white. Should be okay. -

Making good progress on the cockpit. I used a Tamiya instrument panel and laid in individual Airscale instruments. Seat belts, as usual, are FineMolds. Since this a/c is a racer, etc I removed the fuselage fuel tank and put a floor in using strip plastic. The wide prop blades are from my stash of various parts and pieces. Spinner is Grey Matter. -
