My Airfix 1/24 scale Typhoon
Peterpools replied to Irishman1's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Looking mighty good and replacing the Air Scale IP with the kit version - now that's a twist. What was it about the Air Scale IP you that lead you to go back to the kit IP? -
Second Cavalier F-51D build
Peterpools replied to JohnB's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
John Nice start on the next Cavalier F-51D Mustang. Fin and props are now under control and you're on a role. And here I am still floundering away on my Mustang - all those darn engine compartment parts and assemblies seem never ending, especially the multi color painting portion. Good thing, my plans for all future Mustangs (when I do them down the line) are going to have the nose end closed up as I'm pretty much 'engine out' these days. I keep looking at the Lancaster and all those Merlin's. -
Mark Terrific progress on such a unique build - looking mighty good.

Oliver WOW, the ground works look great. How did you make it - you must have been a model railroader before scale modeling as the dio base looks so good. ?

Arado 234 Nachtigall on Speed

Rob Looking mighty good and I'm right with you as masking is not one of my favorite parts of any build but was ahead of scribing, filling and sanding. 😉 -
John Terrific build and just love the scheme. Just over on the Finished Forum and the Mustang looks awesome.

John Awesome build and so well done. Completely agree with Kev, that the scheme is unique and eye-catching. -
Hubert, completely agree and appreciate the information. Somehow, I just feel it in my bones, engineers will keep at it and eventually greatly increase the speed of 3D printing, to where it can print parts at a speed making it a viable option to IM. The time and cost of not needing to cut molds and buy/maintain injection molding machinery, will also offset the time/cost. In the end, 3D printing will win out - how long this will take - whose knows but it's coming for sure.

John A second cavalier - looking forward to that build - going to be a beauty as well.

John As we keep saying more and more; it's always something. 😉

Hubert Thank you for the information. Now the only real question is when are the traditional manufactures going to start 3D printing kits as opposed to IM? Not really understanding all the ins and outs of #d printing, I would assume it's the slow process of producing a finished fret as compared to the speed of IM that would be the big obstacle to overcome. seeing how fast technology evolves, I'm sure the sped of printing will greatly increase over time. I would also think as opposed to just one IM machine, manufactures would have numerous 3D printers to even out the playing field.

Kriss Following with great interest - absolutely the future of the hobby. Just wondering if clear parts such as canopies can be created using 3D printing.

F4U-1D Corsair - Tamiya
Peterpools replied to denders's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Dave Nice going on making the inside canopy masks - something I need to try down the road. -
Carl Not sure how you find what you are looking for; I'm just the opposite. But seeing all your amazing work over the years, your system absolutely works for you.

Gaz If Border ever did a P-38 in 35th scale, I would be first in line to buy and build the kit. As soon as I finish my current build the Tamiya P-51D, I'm planning on resuming and finishing my Tamiya P-38F Lightning build, which is ready for priming and then the paint shop. No question in my mind, it's one of, if not the finest 48th scale WWII fighter kit ever produced - detail, molding, instructions and accuracy are amazing.

Dave Sure hope so as well. 🤞 -
Thanks Steve Just hope I have no issues with the new type of Eduard decals.
-
Ernie Absolutely agree - A Tamiya P-38 upscaled to 32nd scale would be a dream come true and of course, I would do my share in adding to their profits. .
