  1. Kriss Looking forward to following your progress - one very cool looking kit
  2. Martin She sure is one Big Gal. Looking mighty good and for me the two winners in the "Most Dislike" model category: scribing Filling and sanding Both necessary chores never the less.
  3. Thanks Ernie for the heads up. I'm hoping when I start mine, there will be a boatload of AM, including Quinta and Eduard and I'll be diving in headfirst into a pre-war Devastator build.
  4. Oliver Looking mighty good and your learning curve on post shading weathering course, surely looks like an A+ is coming for sure.
  5. Gaz Don't know how they do it but new releases and re-stock has been pretty steady or as steady as other popular manufacturers. Sprue brothers, Hobbynut here in the states always have up to date stocks and BNA, in your neck of the woods carries Quinta as well. Biggest problem with Quinta, is keeping them in stock.
  6. Kev Awesome work and the photographs absolutely help answer a lot of questions. Looking so good
  7. Rob Amazing work - simply beautifully done. I tip my hat as you have had a good deal is issues to overcome and all have worked your way through each perfectly.
  8. John Brilliant work as always ... fit and finish is spot on the money.
  9. Update ... My Devastator has been shipped and should be arriving on Monday, July 3rd. ,
  10. John Completely agree ... the hallmark of Tamiya: part fit.
  11. Oliver Amazing weathering techniques - so greatly appreciate the detail photographs.
  12. Rob Amazing work and the time needed to apply, air brush - painting and removal is way over the top for me. Even though the results are incredible and look perfect, the stencil work does require an all-out assault on the builder's patience and commitment. After all the planning and work, the tanks showed, issues can and will come to the surface. Sorry that you now need to devote time to stripping and redoing the tanks plus the decal work. After following your journey with 1ManArmy masks and stencils, I would have no issues in using them for the major markings where silvering could be an issue (as I did on my ZM 109) and some of the stencils but for the balance, I would lean much more towards traditional decals. Just my two cents as I'm so comfortable in going the traditional decal route. I've never actually gone to the extent you have applying the full complement of stencils and honestly way beyond my ability in energy, patience and time. I tip my cap for a job so perfectly done and much appreciated the warning about how 1Man Army stencil masks react with AK Extreme metals.
  13. Kev Looking good and glad ant issues with the PL wash has been taken care of. I'm ready and waiting for the gear on this gal.
  14. Oliver OD paint work looks absolutely wonderful and micro sanding to boot- wow!
  15. Gaz Absolutely completely agree, they blow away my Roise the Riveter rivets. Your rivet work looks mighty good.
  16. Ernie I've finished just one 32nd scale Trumpeter kit; an F8F Bearcat many years ago and she still looks mighty good in my display case. My Devastator should be shipped by Friday (Squadron Shop) and after seeing your review photos, going to be a good kit. My only thoughts at this point, is to wait for a Quinta set, as almost every build I have been doing has had a Quinta set and I'm addicted. Kwing how many long years ago the kit was designed and the technology available back then, I'm not expecting an up to date detailed front office - all I want is a kit that builds well, looks mighty nice when replicating a pre-war Devastator and I'll be more then a happy camper. 🙂
  17. Rob Kudos on your perseverance, as a lesser modeler as I, wouldn't even attempt the challenge to the degree of masking you have achieved. But as Carl said, the results will be so worthwhile and spectacular.
  18. Thanks Pete, so greatly appreciated. Going slow as time allows. Would be a treat to watch you work your magic on a Tamiya.
  19. Hi Hubert Not yet as I'm starting to find some bench time, decided to attach the gear and finish up the wing before the next update. Never, ever a fan of how Tamiya decided to 'screw' the gear in place and make it removable with the leading-edge cap - just a mess for me. Thank goodness all the toy like features of that period of Tamiya 32nd scale kits have disappeared and is gone.
