Rob Amazing work and the time needed to apply, air brush - painting and removal is way over the top for me. Even though the results are incredible and look perfect, the stencil work does require an all-out assault on the builder's patience and commitment. After all the planning and work, the tanks showed, issues can and will come to the surface. Sorry that you now need to devote time to stripping and redoing the tanks plus the decal work. After following your journey with 1ManArmy masks and stencils, I would have no issues in using them for the major markings where silvering could be an issue (as I did on my ZM 109) and some of the stencils but for the balance, I would lean much more towards traditional decals. Just my two cents as I'm so comfortable in going the traditional decal route. I've never actually gone to the extent you have applying the full complement of stencils and honestly way beyond my ability in energy, patience and time. I tip my cap for a job so perfectly done and much appreciated the warning about how 1Man Army stencil masks react with AK Extreme metals. -
Can't wat for that someday

Trumpeter TBD-1 Devastator

Ernie I've finished just one 32nd scale Trumpeter kit; an F8F Bearcat many years ago and she still looks mighty good in my display case. My Devastator should be shipped by Friday (Squadron Shop) and after seeing your review photos, going to be a good kit. My only thoughts at this point, is to wait for a Quinta set, as almost every build I have been doing has had a Quinta set and I'm addicted. Kwing how many long years ago the kit was designed and the technology available back then, I'm not expecting an up to date detailed front office - all I want is a kit that builds well, looks mighty nice when replicating a pre-war Devastator and I'll be more then a happy camper. 🙂 -

Rob Kudos on your perseverance, as a lesser modeler as I, wouldn't even attempt the challenge to the degree of masking you have achieved. But as Carl said, the results will be so worthwhile and spectacular. -
Thanks Pete, so greatly appreciated. Going slow as time allows. Would be a treat to watch you work your magic on a Tamiya.

Thanks Phil, very much appreciated.

John One sweet looking front office. -
Hi Hubert Not yet as I'm starting to find some bench time, decided to attach the gear and finish up the wing before the next update. Never, ever a fan of how Tamiya decided to 'screw' the gear in place and make it removable with the leading-edge cap - just a mess for me. Thank goodness all the toy like features of that period of Tamiya 32nd scale kits have disappeared and is gone.

This past Friday, I received an update from the Squadron that my pre- ordered (March) Devastator's status has changed to shipping and should ship on June 30th🤞. I'm absolutely going to be on hold to start the kit until Quinta releases one of their awesome cockpit sets (🤞). I just saw that Quinta has just released their set for the Hurricane and will be ordering it today.

Thanks Chris for your very kind thoughts and wishes. Hopefully, over the next few months, Diane and I will finally have our medical issues under control and a thing of the past. As a cancer survivor, I'm always vigilant and under the care of my oncologist. Agreed, bench time comes as time, energy and desire allows. When I'm sidelined from building at times, spending time on the forum is a wonderful way of keeping up, letting everyone know what is going on and keeping the modeling juices flowing, even at a reduced rate. As circumstances allow and keeps you from building and bench time, keep checking in so we can all stay in touch.

John Terrific theme for your next Corsair build. Nothing like the addition of a Quinta Cockpit set for the extra details -
Right with Hubert - looking so good

Dave Nice work on the prop. looks mighty good. You bring up a good point about the tape for the fuel tank area. I'm partial to the tape as it was so common but modeling a restored bird, it's 50/50 either way. -
Thanks Gaz Greatly appreciated. Hoping to make some progress this week on the gear and it's wing leading edge covers. Then it's assembly time. 🙂

Thanks so much Oliver. Far, far from a museum piece but it's an enjoyable and satisfying build and headed when done in my Mustang Corral.

Irishman Very much appreciated

Thanks Carl Had to take a few more breaks from the build and the forum, as Diane still needs some additional diagnostic procedures and then the doctors can start her on a path of recovery. Agreed, totally and so glad Tamiya ditched all this workable and exchangeable parts. When I built the Mossie, it was a breath of fresh air not having to deal with all the toy like parts as well. I hoping to find some bench time, as I'm now working on the gear and then an update in a bit. Justy not a lot of modeling time right now at all.
