  1. Martin I've had exactly the same experience with Cartograpf decals on my last two builds, and the Jug was a brand new release. Not sure why but I'm guessing there might have been a change in how the decals are made at Cartograf. You know the old axiom: when something isn't broken and perfect; time for a change to fix it.
  2. Thanks John Finally, I'm ready to tackle the rest of the interior and glue up the fuselage: progress.
  3. Thanks Carl The throttle quadrant levers were a royal pain but did the job in the end
  4. Carl WOW, the PE grill looks fantastic --- some mighty fine work.
  5. Thanks Rob I'll need to try that out as the panel even with dry brushing it could use a bit more pop.
  6. Thanks Jeff Felt good to finally finish an assembly with all the time I've put into the Songbird. Hopefully by the weekend, I'll now have the chance at gluing up the fuselage.
  7. Rob I'm sure the Songbird will cross the finish line first as it's no whereas complicated nor as difficult as the AEG. I do just about the same and can't understand why the decals are taking so long to loosen up from the backing paper. I also found with the Jug build the Cartograf decals, they felt a bit stiffer. So far for the Songbird, they feel as normal; soft and very thin.
  8. Chris Any chance you can return/exchange the J for an E🤞 Plus side: You have all the awesome MRP paints needed and the GT set as well.
  9. John Agreed .. when it's no fun and a royal pain, SOD for keeps.
  10. Never a doubt in my mind and I'm sure she will be a beauty when finished.
  11. THE IP Just a quick few cellphone pics of the completed IP and ready to be installed in the cockpit. Lots of small details were added to being some life to the rather bland kit panel. I did take a bit of poetic license with some of the throttle quadrant and IP colors or else it would look nearly all black and have zero pop.
  12. John Wish I could help but I've never the Revell kit or any 190, so I'm next to useless in offering any help.
  13. Guy I would never have thought to do a build that way but there are lots of pluses. Still thinking a good deal of sanding and polishing is going to be needed for the belly seam ... sure hope I'm wrong.
  14. Rob Just finished doing the IP panel decal on the Songbird and have found the exactly as you, as well as with the past few builds, I've done, all with Cartograpf decals, they do need a long soak time for the decals to come free from the backing paper - I have no idea as to why.
  15. Surely, quite a difference in size and detail and well worth the cost.😉
  16. Gus WOW, the front office with the ejection seat looks brilliant - the detail is amazing. Nice work on repairing and fitting the sills - I would have wished the 3D parts weren't as fragile but a plus in that repairs go well. Surely seems tweaking and fussing with most of the parts is part of the POA when tackling a 3D printed kit. j
  17. Jeff Awesome conversion and so very much appreciated the narratives and explanations - I certainly learned quite alot. Aces on a terrific build. 🏆
  18. Peter As always, completely in awe of the work you do; simply beyond world class.🏆
  19. Nothing as much fun as filling gaps and sanding.
  20. Hi John Awesome collection of Birdcage Corsairs and can't wait to follow your next build: Birdcage #9. Don't think I ever missed a single show.
  21. John Awesome rescue from the attic and the USS Haynes looks terrific. The AM coupled with your painting skills and she is ready for display .. beautifully done. 🏆
  22. John What a rescue build and rehab from the attic. Once you cleaned up the 'years of accumulated' and went to work, with the AM and addons - what a transformation. Beautiful work. 🏆
  23. Dave Nice progress on the front office and the interior portion of the build. While I've never seen the movie, I am finding the building so very interesting.
  24. Thanks John, trying to research the history of a particular aircraft is a real challenge and I'm glad I was able to find this much out.
