  1. Guys I've read all of the comments and posts, sat back, thought about it and decided for the time being not to bin the Songbird but for the foreseeable future, she will reside on the SOD. Being 76, time isn't on my side and spending it banging my head against the wall and not enjoy what I'm doing just makes no sense at all. My wife and I seem to spend more of our time each week on doctor appointments and procedures and when home, I need to enjoy my time at the bench to relax and de-stress. I decided to pick up my original planned build for the GB: Tamiya's 1/48 F-14A, mostly OOB with some upgrades and enjoy myself. I've spent the last day making some nice headway and zero aggravation. Update hopefully in a few days. Our cable service for the court was out for from Saturday evening until Sunday night, so nothing like putting that time to good use. Just want to say Thank You to all my friends for understanding and helping me get back in the saddle.
  2. Carl Nice progress and the pet photos just add to the pleasure of following your build.
  3. Carl Nice work on cleaning of the canopy fit for sure. Looking mighty good.
  4. Carl Awesome choice for another terrific build. Absolutely loved the movie and have seen it so many times .. for me,.. it's a Clint Classic.
  5. Mark Looking mighty good for sure.
  6. Rob Absolutely brilliant work and some wonderful steady progress. Decals work looks amazing. Enjoying every update.
  7. Gus Nice progress and just a shame there is some shipping damage that had to be cleaned up and repaired. Awesome progress for sure.
  8. Thanks Martin. very much appreciated. I'm surely in the deep breath arena for a bit.
  9. Thanks jeff for the kind words. Maybe I'll just let it reside on the SOD and who knows. Just a terrible kit, zero fun and absolutely not a ounce of enjoyment.
  10. Thanks Carl I hope so but right now, just no desire to do any building at all.
  11. SOD .. BINNED I gave it my best, kept coming back for more and more and at my tender age of 76, just don't want to waste any more time banging my head against the wall, spending hours on a kit, I've grown to more then dislike. For me, it has been a horrible experience, one of, if not the worst kit I've tried to build, a mojo killer that has almost killed my desire to sit and work at the bench. Right now, I have no desire to build anything or take part in the GB. I feel some relief in not having to look at the kit another day. It's now on the SOD and on Thursday it will be on its way to our landfill in Yaphank, as being plastic and recyclable; at least some good comes out of this.
  12. Martin Every little bit counts in moving towards the finish line. Looking good.
  13. Mike No issues here on viewing the photographs. If you can see all the other photographs posted on the forum and not just these, I don't think it's your Mac but a forum setting itself. I have a crazy issue myself with my signature and while Ernie has tried to fix it, last time I looked, I still have it. Always something crazy with pc's and alike.
  14. John Nice work on the FAA Corsair's cammo - looks spot on the money. Completely agree with Paul, will take a bit getting use to but will be a unique addition to your growing collection. A zero would be a nice change for sure.
  15. Thank you for taking the time to post all the photographs from the show - the build quality is awesome and as with every show, the bar keeps rising. Absolutely a wonderful way to share the show and hobby with your son.
  16. Martin Brilliant - weathering is unbelievable! 🏆
  17. Thanks Mike, still at it.
  18. Mike All your extra work is paying off and the Big Sikorsky is looking so good.🏆 Still banging my head against the wall as the Songbird keeps inventing new ways of each part or assembly not wanting to fit. I'm sure a good deal is due to all the compromises I had to make and they just keep adding up.
  19. Yes, either one for sure
  20. Mike Some mighty nice progress on the Big Sikorsky. Interior looks wonderfully busy and when seen through the porthole windows, will look perfect. Glad to see the fuselage is now glued up, looking spot on and the fit is a zillion years ahead of the Songbird in fit alone. I'm sure a lot has to do with the builder and I tip my cap.
  21. Rob Got ya and appreciate the subtle difference in fit between Tamiya and WNW. I never much worried about the gloss color under decals but the thinner they are, the more transparency and the final color will certainly be affected, very much like deciding the base color for airbrushing.
  22. John Looking mighty good and glad Danny was able to fill in the missing decals for you.
  23. Ralph Got ya. Just was trying to figure out why is doesn't photograph that way, which isn't important at all. All that counts is how it's looks in the flesh.
