Thanks the fit issue at the wing seems to be OK at this point, Onto another issue, I did try to fit the canopy to the rails and found it did not want to seat right....so will need to sort that out. Ryan

Someday I’d like to try this too. The only way I have even considered WWI models is the ability to rig with EZ Line! Ryan PS no turnbuckles for me either, just simulate with paint.

Hey builders. Ok took a look at the lower wing and resin landing gear insert, I'm happy to say everything is working out fine! Here are the important parts.... 1. I took the resin insert to my bench grinder and with respirator in place made short work of the casting plug. 2. The grinder is very dangerous and unforgiving to your parts or fingers so be careful, work slowly checking the amount of light that passes through the resin at each pass. 3. You don't have to be too neat when hogging out material on the insert, but you will need to refine the surface because it will be visible in the pit once installed. 4. Fly have guides at the front and rear of the part, use these when grinding out the ditch for the cockpit to reside in. 5. There is some nice engineering here if all works out, the resin part gently comes into contact with the tubular cockpit and even the rear "legs" are tight to the lower wing surface. On to the pics. Neat project Gaz, the modeling gods throw us curveballs from time to time to see if we are paying attention! Good fix on the paint problem. 99% of modeling is knowing how to fix what went wrong. Ryan

Gentlemen your warnings are well received and I will proceed carefully, Wouter thanks for the link. The comments are actually timely as I did start with the cockpit. Here are notes at this early stage: 1. The cage structure was carefully assembled level and plumb and some tubular elements were scratched instead of the kit parts. 2. There are no alignment or positive locating points to sit the assembly into the fuselage halves. I punched small discs and attached to the upper structure to allow the unit to be glued to the bottom of the "shelves" on either side of the fuse. 3. The final alignment point was created with strip at the front of the assembly to lock into the firewall. 4. The headrest and firewall fit very well. Take a look at some pics, so far it seems to be going well. The real test will be to assemble the gear well/ lower wing and offer up to the fuse to check clearance.
