  1. I really dont have space dor a full Lanc, but this is very much a probability for me. I only wish HK did ththiththis with the B-17 and Hobby Boss did it with the 24. All the cool nose art options....
  2. I'd say build it to the photo your trying to replicate. Everyone (especially certain people) swears they know exactly what is right, yet they've been disproved many times. The right amount of weathering is what makes you happy. Panel lines are a great example. I've flown quite a few aircraft over the years that you could easily see them from 40' away. They do collect gunk and other crap, it just depends on the type of aircraft and how often they are cleaned. I tend to build cleaner, because I'm not great at weathering. As long as you are happy that's all that Matters. And even better if you have a photo to show them and tell them to......you know what.
  3. Ernies on the case! I'll be happy to help in any way that I can buddy.
  4. Just a little bump to try and bring in more traffic. Of course you're welcome Maru, and I'm glad to see everyone who is here so far.
  5. It's a reconnaissance Mustang and the TBM firebomber. The props actually taken a lot of work so far because its Trumpeter and not the best molds.
  6. It ain't much, but we are officially off to the races. The one thing I wont do is build up places that will never be seen, so no extra stuff here.
  7. Wait, there's a car?
  8. Carl, I believe I've found the WIP thread your doctor started. Unfortunately it was on TOS and not here, so its devolved into an argument over the proper color of the crimson for the heart muscle....
  9. I am very competitive, and I recently attended a few contests that left me frustrated and slightly confused. I realized I had started a few builds to "show them" at the contest but that was unfulfilling. I'll also build stuff occasionally because so and so will think that's really neat, but in reality I dont have much passion for the subject. I looked at my display case and realized the best builds of mine are ones I'm passionate about, that were done on my time table how I want them. Its an aging process in the hobby as in life. I'm slowly finding my way.
  10. Happily my -3 has arrived and along with it some very promising information from Jeff. He has made a wonderful contact inside Forset Protection (the head AME!) who has more than helped a little with incredible information and photos. Because he has gone WAY out of his way to help here I am switching this build over to a FPL bird. Pretty much the same paint scheme without the Conair name. That will also help with creating the paint mask. I am working on a Tamiya F-6D right now but this build will officially get going in December. The juices are flowing!!!
  11. Stay safe Carl!
  12. Okay gents. Its been rough lately for a lot of us and I would love something to look forward to. I know it's still a little ways off but how about we discuss another Christmas raffle this year? I very much enjoyed last years and would love to do it again this year. How does the majority vote?
  13. I hate to hear what everyone has been going through lately and I know what will cheer everyone up. I'll post a fun thread tomorrow for us all to enjoy.
  14. I'm glad you do share. Great work and it inspires the rest of us!
  15. Why I love you guys here, because we can have an actual conversation. LSM is just a bunch of friends sitting around a dinner table, sipping a cold one and swapping ideas. I love we can disagree, discuss, and improve all of our viewpoints on all manner of things. Kits, life, etc can be intellectually and comedically discussed in a positive and supportive manner. YOU GUYS ROCK!
  16. Welcome! This is a very laid back and fun group of guys. There are a lot of very talented folks here who always love to help and share knowledge and wisdom. We are very glad to have you.
  17. I think one of the hardest parts is its 1/48. I now despise 1/48 and building that scale sucks. 1/32 all day baby! I have 3 mojo producing builds ready to go as soon as the commission one is done. I already feel the excitement again.
  18. I'm doing one for a guy at work. I'll never do it again. Its sapped my fun from the hobby and turned it into something I "have to do" as opposed to something I love to do. And, he was shocked by the price I wanted which was only $100 over the cost of the kit and stuff he wanted for it! I might be making 2 or 3 bucks an hour doing it. Mark, I'd suggest try building something you like, then sell it on Ebay. I think that'd be a great place to start. You're still building what you want at the pace you want, but making some money off it too.
  19. How'd you put in the extra shelves in there?
  20. Too darn funny. Sometimes I wish people remembered we were building little plastic replicas.
  21. Gentlemen, I appreciate the support shown to me from everyone here. However, it's time to step away for awhile. I need some time away from the craziness and will set this build aside for a little while. I have a few other builds planned, but they're for me. I have let my competitive nature overtake my passion and enjoyment of the hobby. I will build a few builds for myself, no wips or notes on accuracy, etc.... I'll post the finished builds in the completed section in time. I greatly appreciate all your support and I promise this build will happen soon!
  22. Oh, you misunderstood. I meant this thread is comedy gold!
  23. Sorry about your FIL Mark. I know that's never fun to visit the hospital whether a patient or caregiver. The Mig project looks great and I'm always impressed by your ability to take some tough kits and turn them into gems.
