  1. Ryan, Looking good. I’m glad I’m Not the only one reducing build time by not focusing on the soon-to-be-invisible.
  2. I especially like the ones with “jump” wings.
  3. These guys and one other on the other side are from the 'Rommel' set:
  4. Eek! It's in German! I generally don't buy artillery pieces unless it comes with a crew. Hard enough to find guys for all of the Dragon armor I have yet to build. Gaz
  5. You didn't need it... you had carpet bombing.
  6. Still sick... plugging along regardless. Go see the doctor later in the arvo. The underside of the wing was the largest, uninterrupted area of lozenge. I'm beginning to understand why I'd rather just paint the damn thing...lol I was afraid that the pink rib tapes would dominate the predominately blue upper surfaces. Patience is the order of the day. WNW tell you to use a blow dryer instead of decal softeners to snug-up their decals. I use both. The decals react well to Mr. Mark Softener. But I imagine if I don't give the decals some drying time before I hit them with the blow dry that they scatter around the room. And trying to get them perfectly straight... I have no idea! The second level of the jig comes in handy as I try to avoid touching the wet ones while adding the newer ones. I'll go snip away the excess then hit them with Mr. Softener. And just think... there are the underside rib tapes as well as a wrapping tape that goes all the way around the upper and lower wings... Gaz
  7. I don't mind. I'm just amazed that you have time and imagination to find stuff like that. Rock on! Like you say, it's impossible to guess why they do what they do without actually being able to sit on a board meeting... if they have board meetings. Maybe the Mossie was an attempt to be the only guy on the block? Who knows... we're all just idle speculators hoping that our pet-want will get built by somebody. For me... Everything thing bar some WWI subjects has been done in some scale or other. But I due to my long hiatus from modelling, I missed the boat on quite a few that many people moan about. I can afford to wait a few years. GAz
  8. The impossible dream, buddy.
  9. I'm still sick. But I can't just lay in bed all day long. Last time I was so sick as to be bedridden I think I had picked up a parasite when the city mistakenly pumped raw sewage into the drinking water system. That was a bad, week-long ride.
  10. Except for the Japanese connection, I'm not having much luck tying the weird music video to the thread... How do you find this stuff, Martin? I find it interesting that Tamiya has released so few large scale Japanese aircraft. Even they must see that their own people aren't interested enough... While they can get those Americans to scoop up Corsairs and P-51's... and now F-14's. Yet they've passed on the Jug, Hellcat, and P-38. Is Baa Baa Black sheep partially responsible?
  11. That's a huge quote...lol
  12. Glad you're happy, Buddy! Gaz
  13. I have been censored on TOS for something that drifted into the realm of politics. Their site, their right. But they haven't done anything about my occasional outburst of profanity, yet.
  14. Hi gang! After 2 days of hanging lozenge decals, I can report that I'm still not done! Exciting, eh? Anyway... here's some signs of work: Getting the wraparound smoothly around the wing roots started mymodelling day. I'm treating the lozenge on the fuselage as wrapped fabric and not as paint. I completed the tailplane and elevator too. Trimming the edges with pink rib tape was quite fiddly. The underside of the ailerons. The surface colors are easily damaged. I decaled the large rudder and the wheel covers. The other option was to paint them black like the struts... but I wanted to do it this way. I decided that the fuselage needed a little more than just the crosses. Because of the decals on the fuselage I didn't dare mask and make my own insignia. So, I raided the decals of another kit. I'd have rather had some cool Wappen... but I only had one other example which I didn't want to use for this 'learning' kit. Thanks for looking! Gaz
  15. The two fixers I know most about are ammonia like windex and turpentine. The Fixers not only 'fix' it to the surface, they also cause blending effects.
  16. I'm sorry... but no fucking way!
  17. There is no need to fear. Think of it as an opportunity to use your acquired model building skills. At least it should be a few degrees better than scratch building your own. Gaz
  18. Nice pics, Martin! I wonder how long it took for that green paint to start falling off inside.
  19. Holy Cow! That looks friggin awesome, Phil! Gaz
  20. I wonder how many guys with 200+ kits in their stash still need more new stuff...lol I'm 53 and look at my 50 kit stash and wonder how I'll ever get it done before death takes me. Gaz
  21. Thank you, Phil. You know, there are times when you just have to keep building. It's great tpo have a model pull you along even when you feel like crap. Gaz
  22. Thank you, fellas!
  23. HI Everyone, A big day of putting decals on the fuselage. A nasty cold has settled in, and I've been sneezing and snotting all day. But I really wanted to get most of the fuselage skinned. I made templates for the area around engine and cockpit. I had to work in small sections because even my template material couldn't follow the Pfalz's curves. Moved down to the wing root. Often I spent time cutting around the lozenge shapes to get tight fit with little overlap. I finished the top of the upper wing, too. Also had a nap. I rarely nap. But my head felt like it was filled with cotton. Port side done. And the starboard side. I've still got all of the control surfaces and the undersides to do. Thanks for looking! Gaz
  24. Looking good! There are some pubs around here that are still using carpet from the 70's if you need some inspiration. Gaz
