OMG!! That’s about my size and I think the last ones I bought were $125 or $150.

Just telling my wife the other night I need to build more shelf brackets and buy more plate glass to add four or six more shelves to my case. I dread pricing out the glass now. (She was looking at the huge Seaview diorama I built and wanted me to put it in the bottom of my display case.)

So a few weeks back my son came to town and took a look at the paint condition on my 2015 Mustang and shamed me. Yea, it’s been looking rough. Slight oxidation on the clear. Since the weather has changed from “go outside and die” heat to “ok, you’re gonna get swampass but you’ll live to talk about it” heat, I decided it was time to do something. Went to a gun store that also sells car detailing chemicals. Guy looked at my car and made some recommendations to the tune of $100. And told me if the clay rag won’t clean the surface, get some iron deposit remover. Yep. Back at the store today getting iron remover. So far I’ve spent the day washing, iron removal and clay ragging it. Planning on starting the buffing tomorrow. Then I noticed something falling on the car and could smell smoke in the air. Yep. One of my distant neighbors is burning yard debris and it’s falling out of the sky on my freshly washed car. 😡 Car cover on for the night. I’ll post up pics after I get all the polishing done.

Well, after feeling the primer it’s gotta be sanded anyway. So I’ll probably mix up something really close to it.

I’m sure it’s fine to do. But anyone got experience doing this? I ask because I just realized my Tamiya rattle can gray primer is a perfect match for the upper half gray on my Galileo Shuttlecraft build. Just clear lacquer, decals then clear flat.

I’m slowly getting there.

I know a few young guys that turn wrenches and one of them is a mechanic for Ford. Biggest problem for them these days? They are getting killed with warranty work due to low quality coming from the factory and especially parts vendors that supply the assembly line. And to make matters worse, Ford and GM have cut their rate pay time on warranty work to cover their bottom line while the mechanic suffers. It’s like they show up in the morning just to work on recalls and bad parts. I remember a time when the gig to get was a dealership mechanic job. No more. Those guys want out and they are leaving for bigger independent shops that only warranty their own work. Problem is a lot of new mechanics lack experience across different brands.

And there we have it. A one day build!! Ready for sanding and filling then off to paint. Look out John, I’m coming after your crown!

Nothing. Absolutely nothing. A rare moment after wrapping up and cleaning up for the next build. Should be my F-35A, but waiting on the Quinta interior and not sure how much longer it will take. I may slide in another “quick build” like the Sea Fury was suppose to be. LOL!

Well this project sure took a few turn of events that were changes for the best. It started out as a “quick out of box” build just to help reduce the stash. But then Carl jumps in and offers up a Fisher folded wing. How can I say no to that!? Then I discovered the canopy was a hot mess and all out of shape which meant I needed a Squadron vacuum canopy for a Typhoon. As construction continued I put a post out on LSP for a Fisher corrected prop. I was floored when I got a response after a few hours, and like the wing, it was gifted to me as well. Man, I’m gonna pay it forward in a big way when the opportunity arises. After dealing with very fragile decals I decided that I was not going to push my luck trying to weather this one. I actually had an accident untaping the canopy and grabbed the upper half of the “A” on the right side with Tamiya tape and ripped it off. Thankfully some careful re-taping and brush work fixed it. So much for my quick build. All in all I put about 7 weeks into it.

Yea, I’m still coughing and hacking up stuff that drains from my head into my lungs at night when I sleep. The first 90 min of my day is nothing more than lung clearing time. I can’t seem to break the sinus issues, although they are a constant problem for me even before Covid.

I’m back at the bench after a week missed due to missing a flight for our cruise and then spending a few days in Cherokee NC at the casino only to come home and discover I have Covid. Hopefully I’m on the backend of that right now. But still bad sinuses and headaches. During this stretch I did get my delivery of the rare as hens teeth Fisher Prop and spinner. As requested, here’s some pics comparing the two. As you can see, Fisher is scale with prop blades attaching to a hub and covered with the spinner. The kit just has blades on a stick that glue into holes on the wrong shaped and too long spinner. Just all wrong Fisher builds up with a jig. And of course the final product Now off to figure out how to mount these folded wings with broken off tabs.

Thanks everyone. Woke up this morning feeling much better already. Like the PA at the Urgent Care said yesterday, I’m on the back end of this so it’s just going to get better each day. But of course the wife is where I was at two days ago. This is her second round of covid.
