  1. Thanks all! I have never built a Dragon tank, so I did not know the DS tracks were better than the average. I definitely like all the extras included for sure. I was leaning toward the Tamiya Tiger Ryan suggested because of the individual track links and the relatively low cost, but I'm not excited about buying, and applying, the PE zim. I am leaning toward the Dragon based on this info, but I will keep my eyes open online and see what develops. Very helpful, thank you! Tim
  2. I am considering doing a Tiger I mid or late model, but I am not really an armor guy, so I need a little advice on which kit fits my desires. These are my criteria: 1. Separate track links (I can't afford AM tracks, and I hate the rubber bands), 2. Zimmerit (either molded, decals, or PE, as long as comes with the kit), 3. Does not need detailed interior, since I'm planning to do it closed up, 4. Does not need a ton of AM to look decent, though I might do a little PE or something. The only kit I am aware of that might fit the bill is the Italeri kit #293. Any others that you would recommend, and ballpark cost? Thanks, Tim
  3. Between the Easy Eight I got in the raffle, and watching your build of this, I REALLY want a Tiger now!
  4. M1 Abrams, without a doubt, for me. Two good friends were Marine tankers in the first Gulf War, and they obliterated a large group of Russian built Iraqi tanks in the blink of an eye. Just not a contest. It was called the "Reveille Engagement"... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kuwait_International_Airport. Tim
  5. Oops, my prop bias is showing....
  6. That's just cruel....
  7. A-10 Warthog. So ugly, it's beautiful.
  8. That is one the most incredible things I have ever seen!! I bet with all of that additional stuff, it probably cost about 1000 bucks by the time you were done!!
  9. I've had very good luck with VERY fine wire that I purchased on ebay, I can't recall the size at the moment. The best part about is the ability to remain somewhat rigid and retain its shape without a lot of tension. It also looks extremely realistic, and you can join two threads by wrapping one around the other and twisting it a bit. As for joining to the plane, usually small hole or eyelet made from wire works well. Tim
  10. Woohoo, I do LOVE a Sherman tank!!! Just what I need to break the airplane slump I'm in!
  11. Beautiful!! I LOVE Shermans!!
  12. I guess I'll throw my hat in, too Ernie. Maybe it will get my mojo going again. Merry Christmas, folks! Tim
  13. I've heard on the forums that a lot of people have had a similar problem with the Photons, but I haven't had anything stick to mine so far that I couldn't pop off pretty easily. Though, obviously, the larger the contact area, the harder it is to pop off. I'd be interested in trying this engine myself, just for practice. I'll have a look for the file on Trimble that sluggo mentioned.
  14. Nice one! I just have the little Photon, but it works very well.
  15. Simply incredible!!
  16. Remind me again what printer you are using?
  17. Holy cow!! John built a Corsair?? Who'd have thought... Good one, as usual, John!! Someday I will build just one of them...
  18. A little late to the wake, but very sorry to hear that Ernie!! My parents are in their 80s, and dad's health is failing, so I'm gearing up to be there soon, too. No fun at all.
  19. Holy smokes, Ern! Sorry to hear this!! Prayers for both.
  20. Haven't touched a model since early April. Lost my mojo, and got busy with roofing the house, re-painting my truck, and tons of other things. I'll get back to it at some point.
  21. Then Brian "the Dude" better go for sure.... And it's a good excuse for Harv to visit his son!!
  22. It better be magic for that price.
  23. Holy crap!!! There is NO way....
