You mean Rick, right? Assumption you mean Mike Offutt. That said, I am flattered my work is being compared to and associated with MO.- 86 replies

yes, interesting. I have a mix of collars and without. I actually prefer no collars on the fine size.- 86 replies

This title sold out quickly after its April release. Not sure if this is a 2nd Printing or stock replenishment. Regardless, I missed the first offering. If you missed out on the April release this title is now available at the Book Depository. This UK based distributor offers free shipping worldwide. I just ordered a copy for less than USD$17. Ralph Used various sizes of Round Lead Wire (RLW) and Flat Lead Wire (FLW) from UMM-USA. I bought a few packs a each size ranging 0.2 thru 0.6mm RLW and 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 FLW. These seem to fit my needs at this time. I tend to use the 0.2 and 0.3 RLW often but its always nice to have other sized to pick from. What is nice about Lead Wire is the ease which they can be bent, especially for cockpit wiring. Electronic and Fly Fishing wire is good for things like Ignition Wire, noting they do not behave very well when bending into an area with a tight fit. In this case I used 0.3mm Round Lead Wire and 0.2mm Flat Lead Wire. Cut 5 lengths of 0.3mm RLW about 8 inches long and lay touching side by side. You can pick up and hold between thumb and index finger. Using CA glue and a small brush or micro brush add a small dab on an area about 2 inches away from your fingers. Have some CA debonder on hand. Capillary action will glue a spot. After the first CA application dried repeat on 1 or 2 more spots. Done! Now you have a length of 8 inches of wiring loom and can easily cut to your desired length. You may also take 3 or 4 lengths of RLW and twist (think candy cane) to create a round wire loom. Using the FLW I cut 2 pieces about 3 inches long and wrapped around the wire loom. When at desired position ad a drop of CA glue and you are ready to paint and highlight with a wash. Good luck. Hope this helps. I will photograph next time I make some wiring looms.

Had some bench time this weekend, slowly making progress. FW190 throttle made from styrene strip and rod. Primer with Mr. Surfacer 1200. Ju88 engine RPM and Oil Pressure panel painted, instrument decals added then some Vallejo "Still Water" to dials. FW190 throttle control painted and glued in place. Ju88 throttle controls painted and ready to be glued on port cockpit panel. Ju88 engine RPM and Oil Pressure panel test fitted with tape. Will glue after seat/belts/control stick and wiring added.- 86 replies

this is great work. cutting the pit fuselage in half is a brilliant idea and is paying huge dividends. how did you create the images of the dials? it appears you made a copy and placed on the plastic card as a template then used a punch to create the "holes". really enjoy watching your scratch efforts on this. its educational and inspirational. I have done some scratch IP work on my latest effort and I may have been hooked on improving my skill-sets in this medium.

Great work on the pit and wiring. When I tackle my next Tamiya kit I am seriously considering leaving the Eduard PE stuff out of the pit. The kit has great details add a little wiring and you have a winner. Watching this one. -

Ju88 throttle control will be placed on the left panel just below the FW190 throttle. I cut a thin strip of styrene and glued a scrap PE. Then using .30mm drill I drilled two holes for the throttle controls. After placing .30mm rods I trimmed then flattened with smooth pliers. Using white glue to make the knobs.- 86 replies

for ignition wires I use med cure CA. pour some CA in a small cup, the little condiment containers and the lids from MacDonalds that always accidentally fall in my pocket by the dozen works great. dip end of wire in CA the place in drilled hole. did wire harness first then install wire harness and bend wire into cylinder heads. be sure wire is measured. on the IP gauges I will usually use Future to set the piece then I might return with a very small drop of thin CA. when using Future and CA I always rely on capillary action to spread. Sometimes Gator Glue works for large areas. washing parts to remove any oils from manufacturing. this is especially true with resin parts.- 86 replies

Instrument panel will be slightly modified at accept gauges and throttle for the Ju88. First step is to add a center panel for Ju88 RPM and Oil Pressure gauges. Based on photographs I'm will make it close. Enter FICE clause here. Using a .05mm styrene sheet, Air Scale Bezels and MDC decals I measured the panel then added appropriate gauges to panel. Adding the bezels was a test of will. Used Future to adhere then touched again with CA. Not sure if I like the alignment, will make judgement after a coat of paint.- 86 replies

Been really slow on the bench these past few weeks. My knee is not cooperating with long seated sessions. Flexibility is improving. Ok, to work at hand. Ignition wires required some drilling with a .35mm bit on the engine cylinder heads and harness. Wire is from a telephone cord.- 86 replies
