  1. great job on this Paul. love the finish on your first effort using washes...nothing like trying something new with success. Take what you learned and move forward to the next level...continued success working out of your comfort zone. BTW Love the nose art. Slick Chick is currently in my WIP. Hope to finish in a few weeks. Currently working on the bazookas and engine detail. Fuselage/wings all buttoned up and filled. What decals Zoltz or Kits World?
  2. ITS JUST A FLESH WOUND! ....one of my favorites. even my kids know it and use it.
  3. yeah, it will hardly be notice thru the main gear well. But for those who will look there will be a connection with the Turbo Super Charger. Cause you know someone will look and let me know about it.
  4. bravo on the plumbing efforts!
  5. great job with solution solving on this build. I share your angst with my G6 effort. Agree with you this is a good kit with some minor challenges.
  6. Back on the bench after 5 weeks of gnawing at the bit. TKR recovery is going very well and I can finally sit on a chair with knee bent. Looks like I will miss the FW190 Group Build deadline. Regardless, I will continue with hopes to finish my Mid April. Time to add some plumbing for the Turbo Super Charger. I am using a D9 as donor kit. The rear of engine will be visible so I need to add plumbing from the turbo charger. Illustration shows a DB engine and the Hasegwa FW190 D9 donor kit offers a Jumo engine. Since only the rear portion of engine will be visible through landing gear bay I can get away with my FICE approach. Illustration credit: Focke-Wulf FW 190, Vol. 1: 1938-1943, Smith/Creek My plan is to soften some plastic tubing via boiling water and bend to fit into engine compartment, Boiling water did not work so I nuked the tube in my microwave for about 2 minutes. Carefully hand bending with tool yielded satisfactory results. Then using a round file I shaped the end to fit on kit plumbing. 1.3mm plastic rod will be used for locator pin. Hole is drilled through firewall and kit plumbing. Locator pin now in position. Test fit looks good. Will enhance part with straps, paint and weather with rest of engine. Yup, close enough.
  7. After complete engine build I decided to add ignition wires. Slick Chick engine on the right. Using micro drill and lead wire I got to work.
  8. beautiful. love the weathering and the cut out glazing. have several beers!
  9. thanks. not too difficult, just really time consuming. Hope to get back to the bench next week. Looks like I'll miss the deadline. Regardless, going to finish this up straight away
  10. First time ever watching Diggers. Will be my last time watching Diggers. I don't like the comic relief. Finding debris in less than 6 inches in what appears to be a cultivated corn field...did not impress. Would be nice to see a scholarly/archaeology presentation on Freeman Field Recovery efforts.
  11. nice review Jim. looks like a great product from HGW.
  12. National Geographic's "Diggers" episode airs tonight 10 ET. Topic is Crashed Nazi Plane In US. Freeman Field Recovery Team unearths a crashed Luftwaffe plane.
  13. great scheme and work to date. a great start with LSM, welcome to the forum.
  14. Replacement parts for my Mistel 2 Ju88 G1 Nightfighter conversion A few sets of smooth tread/weighted wheels this no bench time since 10 Feb is driving me crazy. will be about another week or so before I can sit in a chair/stool comfortably beyond 30 seconds. I might miss the FW190 GB deadline.
  15. A few weeks ago I began working on a Ju88 conversion using AIMS parts. One of the parts needed to be replace. One email with attached photo to John @ AIMS resulted in a prompt and quick resolution by John. He was ready to ship replacement part (across the pond) at no cost to me. I took this opportunity to secure another conversion set and accessories. I had a ton of layman Ju88 questions and it was obvious John was very patient and he clearly answered each and every one my questions. My replacement parts, new conversion and accessories arrived as expected and I am ready to start on my upcoming Ju88 conversion. With the upcoming Ju88 GB you may want to check out the offerings at AIMS, they have some really nice stuff. Conversions, accessories and decals. Johns expertise and patience was most appreciated. I highly recommended John and AIMS for excellent resin quality and customer service. I will be a repeat customer. Cheers Pastor John!
