Vallejo, Lifecolor, Xtracrylix do not play well with either Mr Color thinners, or Tamiya lacquer thinner. The times I've tried, I get a gooey mess like Hubert and Rob have stated above. For those, I use their respective thinners or just plain water. One brand not mentioned much is Tru Color which is from the US. Their paint works very well with Mr Color Thinner. http://trucolorpaint.com/

Dale, I use Mr Color levelling thinner with the AK paints so you won't need to get their thinner. Carl

Just don't light a match near it! Or breath on any candles.

They're not. They're about the same consistency as Mr Color. I use Mr Color Leveling Thinner to thin them about 50/50. The dull dark green on my Kingfisher interior is from them. Carl

Nothing huge but I did get some paint sets for a few hopefully upcoming projects. Carl

Ernie, I've used two kinds. One called UV Gel from Gaianotes out of Japan. It works really well but is expensive for what you get. The other is Bondic UV . You can get that at Crappy Tire here so should be readily available in the US. If you can' t get it, let me know and I'll include a tube with your package.

Ron, it will take paint and would probably work ok for knobs.

I don't drink coffee. I've always found it too bitter unless it's 1/2 milk and 4 spoons of sugar. Then I can drink it in desperation. My wife on the other hand, loves coffee. I'm always finding new ways for her to torture me by making it. Whether it's by getting her a new French press, or a cold brew thingy I'm always looking for something.

Ernie, have you tried any of the clear UV glues for making the lights? They're viscous enough to form into a shape and not run from where you place them on the model. I've used them a few time for formation lights.

Ok, all this talk of food made me hungry so I threw this on a couple hours ago. It's half a brisket as there's no way I was going to get through 18lbs on my own. Here's where it stands now that I've got the boys back from school. Still has a couple hours to go. You're all welcome to come over and have some.

That's funny! Not the barking bit, but the love for Spam and all its variations. We didn't have Spam growing up, instead it was called Klik. Can't recall enough if I truly liked it or it was just, lunch. Anyways, I like haggis (even before the Scottish in-laws) so who am I to comment on people's tastes in food. Carl

While the fuselage was setting up, I went and did the cross braces on the main float. The pads where they intersect was done using some Tamiya tape. I also glued the wing halves together. So some significant progress for the day.

Ok, the fuselage is closed up now. Overall, I ended up with a small gap in front of the IP. Which would have fine but the cowl flaps are a bit in the way. The underside had an odd step on one fuselage half. I sanded it down and everything was fine. Here's the observer's station. I'm still working on the MG.

Still trying to find my jaw after it dropped and hit the ground somewhere. Truly amazing work there. Can't believe just how big it is. Carl

There's a couple. - Rosso 1/12 Honda NSX. I melted one by accident, sold another and regret that last move. At least I have the engine from the melted one. - Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 288 GTO. - Italeri 1/35 Vosper torpedo boat. Of the three, at least the last one is still in production. The NSX won't ever be back as the company had a fire and all the dies were destroyed as I understand it.

I never read Doog's review so I can't compare to his experiences. I did get tips and advice up front from Ernie and John who both built the kit. The kit can be fiddly but if you test fit things, it seems to be ok. So far I've got very little filler on it but I haven't joined the fuselage halves together permanently yet so we'll see. I am impressed by the detail that they've included that's for sure.
