  1. Well Chris your wish is my .... Done , couple of quick bench pix . Puff pix later . Overall - smaller eyelets were better , one lower wing broke off nearing the end ( at least historically correct) so drilled both and used metal pins . Went too fast with the fuse oils , which smeared and had to be re done . The decals as I guessed were kaput , so this is a parts bin special in terms of markings. Liked the resin and PE guns better than the weekend edition . Still it's just a test piece . Got a Roland to do at some point, and then maybe onto 1/32 . And that flipping U Boat .....
  2. Thanks Denis . In the end I had a go with some future , but they were stuck to the paper so hard they just weren't coming off . Too lazy to make masks for the project so just used spares box stuff. I might get some of the above and have a play though for future reference .
  3. Got a decal sheet from 1812 ....was hoping it had survived but they are fragmenting badly . My first though , spray with varnish to try to hold them together a la homemade printed decals, but open to any better suggestions . Most of the ones I need I can find in the spares box but a couple are subject unique. Anything that works appreciated
  4. Arrived today courtesy of a very generous Ernie . Thank you so much , I built a Devastor in my youth and always loved the yellow corrugated wings. I shall endeavor to to this one justice later in the year.
  5. Yes going to do oil paint woodgrain , partly why i went with this colour scheme .
  6. Again ............a subject left ignored for years ...I suspect Airfix will clear up on this one as the only 1/48 released for 60 years.I bought one and I'm not even that invested in the subject , just want to build something new
  7. So beautiful , so aggressive if only it had been Blackburn not Bristols ....it would have looked like this ...
  8. This is a good point . WNW were innovative because they had Jacksons money behind them , a vanity project you'd call it in publishing . But the models sold, and sold well , and now command high premium so people will pay silly money to build a Felixstowe in all it's glory . Equally plenty of companies got off the ground doing subject others left alone , Bronco's endless variants of early British armour (who knew that would sell) , ICMs odd aircraft and trucks ...even Eduard ventured into unknown territory (at the time) with all the 1/48 biplanes. Odd / not done sells , look at all the folk lining up to build Gannets and Buccaneers - at £50 a pop Airfix are cashing in , and Revell whose 1/32 Hurricane is a beauty by all accounts ..£30 , sadly be in the bargain box by summer . So Kotare , maybe consider stuff you can do superbly , which is long overdue , and clean up . Starters for ten ...a decent Lysander , anything FAA , Spey Phantom , a Beaufighter ....and thats just British stuff . Don't do another flipping FW190 ...do a 189 ....B&V 141 ..Heinkel 115 ...go silly ! There's a whole forum dedicated to grown men playing "daddy I want a new pony" so no wish to bring that crap here , but Kotare could break the mould and clean up , they've got the pedigree for it . Or they could just churn out all the old favourites and hope people will pay the premium , which to be fair seems to have been Tamiya's 1/32 strategy , but didn't lead to a variety of interesting subjects.
  9. Yes I believe there might be a vehicle specific thread I should be posting this stuff on ....😳 sorry !
  10. Want to sell it ?🤣 One of my first bikes was a rattle canned F1 , bought of a mate with a blown gearbox ...did my first "strip down a rebuild" in a student flat in Leeds on a budge of ...50 pence ? One of the lecturers took pity and sold me a spare NOS exhaust system for very little . LTT934P still on DVLA database, I wonder if it's sat in pieces somewhere. EDIT - Hawkwind ...Pink FLoyd LPS and full ashtray ....I miss the 90's ( 1991 maybe ?)
  11. Much the same , been riding nearly continuously since 21 , my preference has always been air cooled bikes of the 80's ...within my limits and less likely to hurt myself . ..plus no point trying to road race on a40 year old FJ1200 so I can go at my own pace. The middle aged preening at bike cafes these days is something I avoid ..
  12. That turned out well , nice one 😀
  13. Ralph is this the 1976 tooled one ? I did their 2001 Sabre Dog coupla years back which I'd recommend doing if you haven't already .
  14. Sadly a bit like all the middle aged dads buying sportsbikes way beyond their capability .....cop friend used to call them butterflies ...brightly coloured..... only seen in summer ..short lifespan .
  15. I'm with Tim .....MEH ...yet another iteration of a subject for which there already are 121 releases in 1/32 alone . Gotta make them all . Maybe they could make a 1/35 Tiger Tank next coz that hasn't many interations either
  16. I use stretchy elastic called infini, made for rigging. Glueing it too flat plastic is difficult glueing it to an eyelet is easier. It threads nicely through 0.3 tubing for the buckle as well.
