PanzerWomble replied to RalphSarc's topic in LSM 1/48 Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Ralph is this the 1976 tooled one ? I did their 2001 Sabre Dog coupla years back which I'd recommend doing if you haven't already . -
Sadly a bit like all the middle aged dads buying sportsbikes way beyond their capability .....cop friend used to call them butterflies ...brightly coloured..... only seen in summer ..short lifespan .

I'm with Tim .....MEH ...yet another iteration of a subject for which there already are 121 releases in 1/32 alone . Gotta make them all . Maybe they could make a 1/35 Tiger Tank next coz that hasn't many interations either -
Another 1/48 Bipe .....Eduard Albatross DIII

I use stretchy elastic called infini, made for rigging. Glueing it too flat plastic is difficult glueing it to an eyelet is easier. It threads nicely through 0.3 tubing for the buckle as well. -

Refining eyelets and buckles from the Pfalz Trying "drill everything before paint" and don't trust the kit dimples . Version two of my eyelet tool , old airbrush needle , using 0.1m brass wire on the left , Version one using just soe thyin wire and 1.6mm weire on the right . Version 2 far more in scale . Those are 10mm squares. -
A bit yawned with the UBoot as expressed elsewhere, thought I'd do something as an interlude . I picked up this old Profipack from 1998 ( decals are probably shot) I like the dichotomy of biplanes , their construction is both simple and complex at the same time . Parts count vs any modern jet very low and straightforward .....yet all those wires ..tricksy. At 1/48 I'm not going mad on the cockpits ...just getting the measure of wing + 1 with these little models . so here we are day 1 ....

This build grinds on like a dull patrol in the rain . It's in one lump, primed mostly "body in white" ...needs construction finishing and then can go for paint . TBH it feels very "toy" to me , everything looks too chunky, the fit isn't wonderful , and it's not enthusing me much . I feel the same about 1/16 tanks ....just doesn't do it for me . Anyway whining aside here's where we are today . -

Great DVIII, I think you nailed the lozenges better than on my Pfalz. BTW - I found this section ...WW1 1/48 and larger Ready for Inspection. link I'm game for a few more biplanes , picked up the Eduard 1/48 Albatross and Roland . Fancy making a few 1/48's to get a feel for it then maybe moving towards some Roden 1/32's . I am way too tight to throw down for WNW at current prices. Need to move this daft U Boat on a bit . -
The picture the RAF didn't want you to see ..

Just pre ordered Airfix new 1/48 Bristol Bulldog ( release April) ....yes it's Airflups so it won't be a top shelf kit (in my opinion) , but apart from some ancient 1950's tool it's the only quarter scale Bulldog in town . Given how Gladiators become popular I'm surprised the old Bulldog isn't represented in anything bigger than 1/48 , the colour schemes and sheer "butchness" of it make it a great subject to my eyes. I mean look at it , it looks like it wants to rip your arm out of the socket and beat you to death with it after downing three bottles of JD 😀
