  1. I have the same thoughts , I’ve bought 2-3 of the same kit when they were cheap, built one or two and then sold off the rest . I get ideas for dios but often go off them later and dump the models on eBay. As you say most stuff can be bought when you need it , I’m not a collector nor do I like having loads of cash tied up . I sell most of what I make as it funds my hobby which has been cash neutral for a long time . Just my take tbh.
  2. Not on my bench but outside my window today ....Helmut Dollinger's KT ... Old hotel, in Ligneuville look familiar ?? Here........ back when Ardnt Fischer parked his Panther outside in an unscheduled "bazooka inspired" stop . Yep , BotB obsessed man gets to spend 4 wintery days in the Ardennes ....again . This years focus is the Loshiem gap , & we're staying at St Vith . This trip I'm planning on seeing where Lyle Bouck held up a whole division for a day with 18 men, link ,where the poor 106th Inf Div came to grief in the Schnee Eifel link , and where the early battles in and around the small villages really messed up 5th PanzerArmee timings. If anyones interested I could maybe do a small travelblog? Wish me snow .... Pw
  3. Those mid 90's 1/48 Tamiya kits really raised the bar in terms of parts fit for my money . I've not built the F-4 yet , but did the Spitfire from around the same time and also recently the Skyrider, and currently am tackling the Mosquito . Clean the tooling gate marks, line stuff up and apply some extra thin, maybe a little correction later ...try that with a similar age Airfix kit. 🤣 Japanese precision where you want it . Your 'pit looks great , I'm having a pop with a Yahu panel for the Mossie as I don't use Quinta. Look forward to seeing this on on the line .
  4. Maybe you need to buy some more models if that is the score ……for ‘longevity’
  5. Got to love a 892 Phantom . I did XV590 in 1/48 earlier this year, beautiful aircraft , makes you want to break into "sailing" thinking of the old Ark .
  6. See where I'm going though .....you've 17 years worth of stock , plus who knows how many bucks 😀
  7. Done , typical Tamiya , fit is great, very straightforward to build so you can concentrate on painting and the rest . Off for a Carlsberg .
  8. Launched in Nov, arrived after my pre order . Comes as "green" markingn for airfield dioramas no doubt, but since one of my all time films is Ice Cold in Alex....thats where I'm going . This'll be quick , just a bit of weekend fun . Not many bitz Wish Airflups desinger's would take note of proper instructions instead of the 100 page nonsense they produce these days . Of course it's on in the background .... She's battered in the film Sylvia Syms was the last of the cast, she died in Jan this year aged 89 . Masking stuff as gives me more options later on , plus huge decals often suck / look too perfect IMHO . Thats a small model not a huge glass of wine .....no really .... Back later PW
  9. Sell the kits have an around the world holiday 😀.....I can knock out 2 a month , so 170....thats 7 years worth for me at least..... FYI my stash is a whole ....20 today .( £800 tied up) ..stuff I've lost interest in or just had knocking around too long gets sold . Just my opinion . 🤣
  10. Things been driving me nuts in another universe far far away . Done now .

  11. Got absolutely pig sick of building an Academy Sopwith Camel elsewhere , so turned to this "late night wine-fuelled bargain purchase" to distract me , although having planned to do it will all hatches open , took longer than expected. Airfix re pop in 1/35. Now back to the crappy Camel ... Probably last two builds of this year for me .
  12. CBA with a build log, just as well as the Cathedral of Steel is really going slowly, getting all the insides finished , weathered, in the correct position to get a good hull fit ....it's been a drain . This was supposed to be a quickie fun build whilst I build up enthusiasm to finishing my Camel on TOS ( daft Academy kit was mojo sapping) . Been busy at work as well ...Anyhoo Hull is now glued , turret and hull guns complete , a few bit's a bobs and onto paint . My reasoning is they were delivered in some version of Olive Drab , then paint in Theatre . Looking at 1942 pixs , it looks like the bogies got painted in sand but the lower hulls and wheels were not . I'm aiming for the battle of Mersa Matruh , which was early timescale for Grants when they had they two tone cammo scheme with a white divider ....so that'll be easy then . Ah yes and its going to be abandoned and looking like a "fish supper" ....battered with lots of chips , and sand blasted paint ....and battle damage .
  13. Nice collection Denis . Tamiya have brought out a Comet recently , I built the old Bronco one which was good , but maybe worth a look . I've got a couple of cheap IKEA glass cabinets for model display . It limits me in scale a bit ( 1/32 fighters fit or 1/48 twin engined , nothing bigger ) and also time . I fill it up, keep the one's I feel happy with and then have a sell off to clear space. Sometimes if I'm not that bothered by the subject, they get sold post build . Being enclosed, I never have to worry about dust.
  14. Couple of things Tamiaya's brand new 1/48 K2 Ambulance for Brit WW2 airfields ...or maybe a small Ice Cold in Alex dio .... And also another random purchase of a subject most ignore .... I quite fancy a lil 'abandoned in the Ardennes' diorama ..we shall see Early Hobbyboss 2007 M4 HST . Moulding is a bit heavy but there are very few 1/35's of this subject available...a 1967 Nitto tooling and couple of unobtainable resin kits only . Wubber Twacks , wonder if some metal Stuart ones will fit . Photo etch and masks is a nice one . Engine might be a nice start for detailing .
  15. Going to be one heck of a finished ship
  16. At that size you could read the Braille Rivets !
  17. Academy give you a basic interior . This one has been run hard and put away wet, chased by Rommel all over Tunisia
  18. I wasn't offended, understood it was a mistake - just asking for correction . You can call Charles... "Chuck III" if you must 😄. I'll be polite about Thanksgiving on Thursday . ...
