Typhoonattack replied to James H's topic in Aircraft Reviews
Simply beautiful, as always. -
More stuff to throw at the A-4 kit that I don't even have yet.
-
Yep, Happy B-Day!!!

P-38 1/32 P-38M "M"M is for migraine !
Typhoonattack replied to harvey boyer's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
If you've never seen it, it's a great movie, and also affords a nice way to tease you, Harv. -
Still #1 on my "to get" list. I love this aircraft.
-
Agreed, like pipes, not tubes, but still in all,...

Interesting question, Nige, and one that I unfortunately can't answer. My belief at the moment is eight different cars, of either 8 or 10 wheels each. Not one single photo I can find of the actual Dora is clear enough to be absolute.

Not a big fan of the B-25 really, but this kit might just make me a believer. It looks absolutely great.

aviattic 1:32 Fokker E.I / E.III / E.IV Resin Cowlings
Typhoonattack replied to JeroenPeters's topic in Aircraft Reviews
Wow, those look splendid, Jeroen. -
Even perhaps more interesting is that ailerons, rudders and elevators are all derivations of the original bird concept of articulating surfaces to affect directional change.
-
I think it's about railroad guns in general, or at least that's what I've heard, but supposedly covering the Dora fairly well. Lewis Pruneau (a local boy), scratch built a 1:35 Dora years ago, and I swear he mentioned using the JJ Fedorowicz book as reference. His Dora was on the cover of an old FSM magazine, as well as a VLS publication on monster dioramas.

Should come with two.

Kind of took me by surprise, I must admit. Given my moniker, most folks assume I'm a Hawker Typhoon maniac, and they're right, I am. The A-4 package does look appealing, too bad I'm cash poor at the moment.

Typhoonattack replied to JeroenPeters's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Great title Jeroen. It was rocket science. Looking real sharp, as I've come to expect. -

Looks quite excellent. I can't tell, but are you using the RB canopy framing? -
The A-4 is definitely on my "must have" list, Dave.

As some of you may know, in addition to being a member here, I'm also a moderator at LSP. The staff from that site made a unanimous decision to purchase this for me, as a token of appreciation for the work I do behind the scenes in the references section there.

A couple of months ago, a member on another forum gave me this; yes, gave it to me.

WNW also captured the battens (for lack of a better word), that capped the ribs, with a subtlety that is truly astonoshing for an injection molded kit.
-
Yep, emulating the way birds use their wings and tail inspired many early aircraft designers.
