Anzo
Hi guys, thanks for your support. I really like the idea of mounting the inner wheels to the gear struts ahead of time like that. Assuming the main wheels will just slot onto them? Because the inner wheels have different color, I only dry fit the inner wheels to the gear struts and checked the position of break lines. If the inner wheels have same color with gear struts, I will leave them on the gear struts for painting together just like you said.

This is very special stuff Anzo... what modelling is really about. Beautifully clean, well documented and great photos too - thank you for sharing this with us. Anzo
Thanks, everyone. I am glad to hear all your comments. You comments always encourage me. Very appreciate. New in progress. Finally began to paint the fuselage. Airbrushed the cockpit color on canopy again. Then I airbrushed white on these places of shark mouth, national insignia, and serials. Client asked me to build this P-400 as the BW-146. He also provided a Montex super mask set for it, but the super mask set only had BW-167. Therefore, I tried to find a clear drawing of BW-146, and resized the drawing as same as this model. Cut the “Whistlin Britches” and big “20” on masking tape carefully and put on fuselage. Also put the masks of star of national insignia on fuselage and wing. The nose of fuselage had white already. Put the masks of eyes and white teeth, prepared to paint black. Airbrushed black on shark mouth and Gunze Hobby Color 326 blue on national insignia. Airbrushed red on shark mouth. Then I masked the sharl mouth and national insignia again.

lawman56
Positively fantastic work! I've always thought the P-39 was an often over-looked aircraft. I'll be joining others in bookmarking this for a future build! Thanks for sharing!
Anzo
Thanks, Joe. There is an interesting thing for commission build which is you ALWAYS fall in love with the model you build, even you never notice or like the subject before... This happens many times on me. I am glad more people notice the P-39 now. Hope you enjoy This build too.

Anzo
New in progress. Thanks for watching. I mixed Tamiya XF-21 sky with a little bit white for bottom of fuselage. Added more white with XF-21 sky for light tone on some areas. Prepared to paint the camouflage. Painted the brown first. I mixed Tamiya XF-52 flat earth and a little bit red brown for these areas. P-400 had a solid edged camouflage, but it would be looking better if the edge was a little bit softer. Therefore, I used Mounting Putty and masking tape to have the shape of camouflage. Then painted the green. I mixed XF-11 J.N. green and a little bit olive drab for the green. Prepared to mask and paint “U.S. ARMY” and “BW-146”. The Montex super mask set only had BW-167, so I cut a “4” on masking tape to have BW-146. Next painted the wheel bays. Removed Mounting Putty and tape. Painted the walkway black. I wanted to have sun faded effects on fuselage and wing. So I mixed some light tone colors and airbrushed on camouflage. Surprise time!! Removed all of masking tapes. Finally saw the shark mouth. Another angle. Bottom of fuselage.
