I moved mister "one hand" to the upper gun deck to bury his arm in the 20mm gun breach. Looks better I think than my original idea of next to the 37mm gun. I hope the rest of you agree...?

Totally agree! Looks perfect now!

...and now I have the cradle and mounting board almost ready for staining with tung oil...20210422-001821.jpg

A plaque of dedication and this sub will be set for presentation.

Can’t wait to see it completely finished!

This is more than an awesome build!

Still working on the display base and dedication plaque,  but I went ahead and added a small detail that I have been thinking about for some time now. The sub is supposed to depic a time when she is cruising near home port. As such, she would have been flying a flag. A paper flag was included in the kit, albeit without the swastika. I finally decided to include it as a necessary detail. I have configured it so as to hide the missing swastika and hopefully not offend by the flags display.

Sorry for the small print...it reads:

U-995 German Type VII C/41 U-boat circa Late 1944,

Endlich fast zu Hause...Almost home at last.

Build started (2011) by Robert W. Clark Sr...Build finished (2021) by Ralph E. Jeffries.

Very nice, indeed!  Damn my eyes...  can;t read the plaque.

Congratulations to this stunning model!

Perfect build and presentation.

Since my eyes are better than Gaz I was able to read the plaque.;) (I just enlarged the picture). Interesting that the build was already started in 2011 by another modeler.
Also the german text (with the english translation) is a nice touch!

And my final question:

What‘s next on your bench?

The build was started by a good friends dad who died shortly after in 2011. My friend traded the model to me for some other project I did last year. I couldn't think of a better home for this project than the son of the dreamer who started it all some 10 years ago.

As for what is next? How about a 1/18th scale UH-1B Huey Dustoff....?20210205-085750.jpg
