No problem Carl, I'm glad AFV did the flange, as I screwed mine up, based on the photos of his part. I purchased a Rye Field Models 1/35 #5050 Tiger 1 kit, full interior. I plan on using it as a guide on creating some of the interior parts on the 1/16th kit. I'm not going to glue anything together on it, but I may have to remove some parts from the sprues in order to scale them up for my build. So if your interested I'll be selling it when I'm done. Here's a picture of the kit Ron G
BlrwestSiR
That's a good way to go about making the interior details. I've still got a few 1/35 Tigers in the stash but I could be interested in it when you're done. I don't have one with an interior yet.

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted May 25, 2023 Administrators Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good LORD, Ron, this is Gorgeous work! I have to live vicariously through y’all when it comes to armor, because I absolutely, truly SUCK with armor. I was ok 30 years ago, but I lost my AFV drive long ago. Just the thought of dealing with those guide horns gives me a migraine!

Just the thought of dealing with those guide horns gives me a migraine! You sure got that right Ernie. These are my first armor kits since I was a boy (65 years ago)! Wow how time flies. I've never tried weathering any armor, I barley knew how to do aircraft weathering. Ron G
CrankyCrafstman
Hey all I'm back with more updates. I just purchased a Rye Fields Models 1/35 Tiger 1 with full interior kit. I'm going to use it to scale up parts for the interior to 1/16 scale. So far I have the radio operators seat done. Here are some pictures. This view shows the 1/35 scale parts in tan and my scratch built ones in white. This is a view from a different angle. View of the seat looking down on it. This view from the side shows the spare machine gun barrel case on the far side of the seat cushion. This view shows the radio operators back rest. View of the back rest from the rear. This view shows how the two 1/35 assemblies mount in the tank hull. This view shows how my custom made parts fit in the hull. There will be some more items added to this area latter on. This view of the rear mud flap shows the modified cross hole I added to correct the kit part to the correct version of early flap. This is the other side and how the left flap looked before I modified it. This view shows the rear convoy light. I modified it by adding the two tube pieces over the light on each end. The hole on the right side is for the electrical cable to the light. This view shows how it will look in place on the tank. Well that's it for now be back with more updates soon. CrankyCrafstman
Hey all I just ordered some 1/16 scale ww2 German recognition flags for the three tanks I'm working on. They get draped over the upper rear of the tanks so the Stukas don't mistake them for the enemy. Also, I received some 3D printed parts from AFV Modeller. When I get back from vacation I'll post some pictures. Ron G
BlrwestSiR
Great work on the seat and fender mods. The interior bits will make a big difference looking in from the hatches.
CrankyCrafstman
Hey guys I did a little more work on the big cat. This view shows the 1/35 scale drivers seat on the left and the one I scratch built on the right. I still have more stuff to add to it. This view shows the stuff I got from AFV Modeller for this kit. This view shows the gunner and loaders seats. These are actually ones for a Panzer IV, but I think I can make them work on the Tiger. This view shows some gas mask containers and a M34 machine gun belt of ammo. This view shows the corrected exhaust flaps in the open position. The ones on top are the ones without the extended top cover and the ones on the bottom are the ones you use with the extended cover. This view shows the mounting flanges for the two front road wheels when they are removed. I almost forgot these from AFV Modeller. 4 buckets and the jig for bending the wire handles. Well that's it for now be back with more soon. Ron G
CrankyCrafstman
Hey guys I did some more work on the Tiger. I've been spending the last few days replicating the 1/35 scale parts into 1/16 scale ones. This view shows the drivers seat that I fixed by lengthening the bottom seat cushion. Side view of the drivers seat. Rear view of the seat. This view shows the part that goes behind the seat. Closer view of the two parts. This view shows the 1/35 parts. This view shows the 1/16 scale parts. This view shows the two boxes I scratch built to look like the tan 1/35 scale ones. This view shows the 1/35 scale one. This view shows the 1/16 scale one. This is the next thing I have to reproduce. Well that's it for now be back soon with more. Ron G

This view shows both the drivers side and the radio operators side shocks. Tan are the 1/35 and the white ones are the ones I scratch built in 1/16 scale. Another view of the shocks. CrankyCrafstman
Hey guys Small update for you to look at. This view shows the 1/35 scale Tiger 1 transmission on the right and the one I scratch built on the left. There is alot more to this and it's going to take several days to get it right. This is a closer view of the one I scratch built. This is a cad picture of the real thing. This is what I'm trying to replicate. I'm not going to do everything just what is clearly seen thru the hatches. Ron G

This is a sketch I did of the diorama I'm going to be doing of these three vehicles. My 1/16 AHHQ Tiger 1, Takoms Panzer III Ausf N and a Tamiya Kubelwagon with a Rommel figure and driver. It's going to be 3' by 2' yeah huge. Ron G

If I remember right I think they have two figures for the Tiger, but I'm not sure if you can get them from AHHQ. Ron G

I think I have it done, but I my need to do the part that attaches to the front of the trans, depends on whether or not it's visible thru the driver and radio operators hatches. This view shows the 1/35 on the right and the 1/16 on the left. Drivers side of the 1/35 trans. Drivers side of the 1/16 trans. Radio operators side of the 1/35 trans.
