I started this evening one of my favorites of the Japanese Army much their version of the P-47 in my book just has that bulky look about it.I painted the interior colors Tamiya Interior Japanese Green 71 very close to MrHobby 23 letting that part dry overnight but I could not stop there. The fuselage builds like a ship model with three bridges that really align and stabilize the fuse.I also went ahead and started the tail, tailplane and the landing flaps the model just builds like many little sub-assemblies!I rather like!I will probably have the copit finished tomorrow.;)

Watching this with interest as I have this kit in the stash. Received it as a Christmas Raffle prize from Bill Scarbrough a good few years back. Never done a Japanese aircraft so wasn't sure how to approach it but now I've got the Val as well I'm tempted to get them done.

Gus the kit thus far has been really easy peasy and the fit is tight/good.I plan to black base, silver, green and chip.I usually chip viva a knife just scraping here and there what I have seen looks like the paint chip at seams joints along the fuse wing etc.;)

I have gotten a the copit just about finished only thing left now is the bottles behind the seat. The two yellow handles on top of the main control are PE from a 1/48 kit with white glue then painted. The AC on display here in the US shows two red and three yellows bent inward.I have AM seatbelts in the stash/wall just need to locate.;)

This has been moving slower than expected on my part being the kit fits so well together. The belts from RB were lets say a bit of a challenge or maybe I been spoiled by Quintas?I spent three nights doing these belts one night just walking away....The pics I wish I would of looked at one last time before assembly being a little fuzzy. The wing is glued, canopies masked and working the LG's now.I am hoping things start moving a little bit quicker.;)

Nice work! I have the Hasegawa Ki-84 in my stash and I'm looking

forward to building it. I built a "George" in 1/48 scale many years ago...

I was building everything Japan had in terms of WW II aircraft back then...

Nice to see your build.

Nice looking engine and cockpit, Kevin. Hasegawa has some very nice and good fitting kits of Japanese planes. I once built a Raiden and liked the kit a lot.

Well I got some paint laid down tonight JN Green Tamiya Acrylics over AlClad Silver 101 on the whole plane.I was spraying the Future straight was pooling up on the forks I was kinda hmmmn?I usually find that being the mixture to thick so I added alcohol turned cloudy Nope out it goes.I then added MrColor Leveling thinner stayed clear and what a difference and it dried to the touch so fast.I will start on the chipping once the decals are laid and sealed. The P-47 just to show the George was about 85/90% that of a P-47!;)

Looking great Kevin . Yes, Mr Color leveling thinner is a gift from the Gods...good stuff. I've never tried Future. I always

Go with Tamiya Acrylic Clear and leveling thinner. I always have a batch pre-mixed  on hand.

Can´t wait for the weathering Kevin, always interesting with these Japanese planes. I used Pledge very often with the airbrush and never had issues with application. I use Tamiya Flat Base to reduce the sheen, when necessary, but never more than about thirty percent. More flat base leads to candy cotton effects.
The only issues after application I had was with decal solutions, which left dull spots in the clear, but were removed with a further coat of pledge above.

I leave the forks on the AB tips weras you get rid of them if I am not mistaken? The bottle I have is also probably maybe 15 years old could be an issue? The Badger AB if the paint is not thin enough it will collect on the forks from my experience was just surprised when the leveling thinner worked!;)

Leveling thinner is a real gift, like Paul said. Since I use it, my AB probs are far less. You are correct about the tip protectors, I leave them away. Specially heavy pigmented acrylic colors tend to accumulate there and then BLOB.

I have the decals laid let me tell you the red meatball decal were so thick even Walthers hardly touched them!I eventually had to razor knife the seams and reapply the Walthers.;)
