belugawhaleman Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Thanks Carl. I now have four. My first is several years old now. The huge improvement in quality and design of these engines has sparked a new interest in them. They are much improved😀 1
belugawhaleman Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Got this today..... Back to buying plastic models, I found this Tamiya Italian Light Tank L6/40 (89783). This is one of those Italeri/Tamiya "cooperation" kits. Tamiya has added figures and photo-etch and new decals . Not an easy kit to find, I've been looking for a while to find one of these. I like the looks of this little tank and I like the unusual suspension configuration. It has link & length tracks but I'll probably use Friulmodel tracks. 3

belugawhaleman Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Got these today...... First, from Zvezda, Russian Military Van UAZ 3909 (3644) in 1/35. The kit doesn't look too bad....kind of ICM ish. Pouring over the instructions shows that it has pretty good detail. I first saw this vehicle on a couple of episodes of Jeremy Wade's River Monsters of all places. At the time I wondered if someone made a model of it. Then I discovered this kit. Seriously, I'm not thrilled that it's Made in Russia.... But, there you go. I hope nobody is going to get political about this. I bought it because it is the only 1/35 kit available for this subject. Anyway, building this Bread loaf looking van will be fun I think. Next, a set of Friulmodel tracks for the L6/40 Italian tank I bought earlier.... 5

DocRob Posted Saturday at 02:36 PM Posted Saturday at 02:36 PM Not one, but two MFH kits arrived at my doorstep. I ordered a while ago and let them ship together, as I was in no hurry because of traveling around. The Norton Model 18 will be the European counterpart to my already built Big Tank Crocker. I love the looks of the bike , but dread the chain construction, which was painful with the Crocker and the Norton has two chains. Anyway, MFH bike kits are fun and I hope for a re-pop of their Ducatis. I missed initially buying the Ferrari 412 T2, but bit, when some flashed up on the MFH site for an hour or so. At least, the the painting stage will be a lot simpler than with other F1 cars I like the looks of this last 12 cylinder powered F1 car and especially the wheels are absolute sexy. Pictures borrowed from MFH homepage, as there are no box arts to show. Cheers Rob 6
BlrwestSiR Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Posted Saturday at 02:44 PM Wow, nice pair of kits there Rob. You're really building up quite the collection of MFH kits. 4

I like the post turbo era best, like you said, not too many strange wings. The low nose profiles are my favorites, the "hanging" front wings look a bid silly. Before the turbos there were great designs too mixed with the worst. Surely a time, where everything technically possible was tried. Cheers Rob 3
belugawhaleman Posted Sunday at 10:34 PM Posted Sunday at 10:34 PM This came today...... From Tamiya, their BMW R75 POLICE TYPE (16006**11000) In 1/6 scale. I made this thing years ago when I was on-break from college.Turned out nice, but Was thrown out with all my other models by my parents later on...... This one was sealed in plastic....All the parts still in their bags along with the decals. I'm thinking that these were re-released in the early 2000's.This one is definitely new-looking. I've always liked these big Tamiya motorcycles. They're fun to build . look great, but can be kind of Fragile on the shelf. Anyway.....here are some pics.😀 5
belugawhaleman Posted yesterday at 04:28 AM Posted yesterday at 04:28 AM Another big-scale motorcycle from Tamiya.......... This time another Big BMW; their BMW R 75 in 1/6 scale (16005). This one is not as pristine as my last purchase. The parts are all there, on their sprues, in sealed bags and blister packs, however, the decals are badly yellowed and can't be used. Luckily, using the decal sheet from my other kit and another source found online, I have been able to reprint most (0n white decal paper) using my laser printer. I will getting some clear decal laser printer sheets soon to print the rest with the exception of the pin striping for the fenders. Oh Well. I'll have to cut out the decals, but I'm sure it will be fine. To give you an idea on the age of the kit, it has a label for Model Rectifier Corp. On the box.......So pre 1989. Anyway I'm pleased despite the decals 2

Nice one, Paul. they were called Gummikuh (rubber cow) back in Germany at the time, because they lifted the backside as a reaction of the cardan drive train when accelerating. I visited the Berlin BMW motorcycle factory, when I was young and they had specialists there, doing the pinstriping by hand. BMW motorcycles were never my cup of tea, too streamlined, well thought and downright boring, but undeniable they are classics. Cheers Rob 4

Cheers Rob My older brother bought a BMW in the 80's while stationed at Nellis AFB. He had it for many years and absolutely loved it. Later, he joined a club that sponsored long-distance tours. I'm now looking for Tamiya's R90s. Hoping to find a good one cheap. Incidentally, "Rubber Cow" was my nickname in high school.........strange that . (Just kidding😀) 3
