Ah!! Jeroen ... this is another of your builds that heading towards "one of your best" that I so richly enjoy watching come together.  Where'd you get the nifty stand on which you're using for painting etc?

Great stuff my friend .. great stuff.

Grant

PS:-  Seeing you skip through the doors of the Telford International Centre like an 8 year old because of having bought this kit will be an image hard to expunge from the memory! Wow, you were camp!

Hihihi, Thnx Grant!

I guess i was kinda stoked in a nerdy kind of way :)

Finally finished the model room. Pics later. And managed to slap some paint on the ol' 234.

Next step is modulating the grey with some lighter and darker shades.

Just found this color photo... Just look at the detail.

Also note the holes in the side of the ailerons. I hate to see these kind of details, when it's to late to add them....

Great work on that underside.

Are you replicating that seriously knackered looking paint job in that actual photo?

Real weird to see this bird in olive drab, and more bizarre with the US markings.

Great work! Love the tones, shade and modulation.

Hahaha,

It's open and I'm awake, but I don't think it's a good idea to start up the compressor until the misses is awake :))

Today I'll shoot the black. Rear of engines and cockpit framing.

Jeroen,

Did they do like Radob and decaled the glasing rivet or is it riveted?

was this bird oversprayed with O.D?

Cheers

Hi Ted,

The canopy rivets are decals. And when you look at the real thing, that's the way to go.

This plane was after it's capture indeed overpainted with a medium grey underside and OD upper. No sigh of the old markings are present.

Thanks J- excellent picture.. I see what you mean!

Poor buggers- there's no protection at all from the front.. Uhh!

Well, you're going to have a blast making that one tone scheme alive and intresting.. mine is on the way.. can't wait!

Cheers

As always, profiles, photo's and the instructions contradict each other. Yellow tipped tail and periscope. Black rear of engines.

Guess some colors could have been added later during its testing.

This photo shows the beat up appearence of the US captured 234.

The sole surviving aircraft was completely stripped of all paint, but the paintjob it carried was extensively researched.

Better than that was at the time not possible.

Nice Job Jeroen.

You asked for what I'm building. Well I'm more into cars for the moment....but next planes will be the Tamiya's Zero A6M5 Type 52 "Light and Sound"

Cheers,
