Administrators James H Posted March 8, 2015 Author Administrators Share Posted March 8, 2015 Ok, an update. Model is now painted and I have already used the marking masks, despite you not seeing them here. Hope you like her so far! Painting is with Gunze, and the invasion stripes, at 24 inches for bombers and two engine aircraft, works out at 2cm per stripe, so as you can see, there is a LOT of white to paint.

Pugz636
On an historical note, Wing Commander Guy Gibson Died whilst conducting a raid in a 627 Sqn Mosquito, they were attacked and crashed after they ran out of fuel...that was AZ E KB267....that was a B XX tho.. love the finished kit, looks amazing! would you build another? Wingco57
Parts of this Mossie are on show at Gilze Rijen air base in the south of the Netherlands. Very sobering to see a smashed up undercarriage leg. Such a tragic way to go after so many hazardous missions. Cheers Cees
simmo.b
On an historical note, Wing Commander Guy Gibson Died whilst conducting a raid in a 627 Sqn Mosquito, they were attacked and crashed after they ran out of fuel...that was AZ E KB267....that was a B XX tho.. love the finished kit, looks amazing! would you build another? New information suggests Gibson was shot down by friendly fire, apparantly dived towards a Lancaster and got nailed by the rear gunner. I saw an article in "Britain at war" magazine which also stated that research indicated no German nightfighters claimed kills in that area on that night and that a lancaster claimed a Ju 88 over the crash site (ju88 snd mosquito were often miss identifyed)
Wingco57
That Same story is mentioned regarding the dissapearance of Glenn miller. According to latest research the Mossie crash was caused by fuel starvation Due to mismanagement of the fuel systen. Neither the navigator or Gibson were experienced with the Mosquito.
