Tamiya next 32nd Release....

Mossie you say? Wouldn't complain about that either. And I know HK is doing the Lanc just too bad I'll barely be able to justify the Fort, but I'm sure I read somewhere that they also planed a mosquito...could have been pure speculation...but I'm convinced I saw that somewhere.

My Tamiya hopes (following the corsair) would be:

1.

Jug...p-40 (pipe dream) 190, mossie,

I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the Lancaster but even more keen and eager to see a Mosquito.   :)

The other aircraft I'd like to see is a decently detailed Beaufighter in 1/32nd much like the recent quality Mustangs, Spitfire, Skyraider etc.

Then again, perhaps it's not main stream enough for a maker to invest huge sums in research, tooling, marketing etc to produce one - Spits, Mossies, Lanc's, 109's etc Yes!, they have a "school boy poster on the wall" sort of romantic or iconic aura about them but some of the lesser known don't stand much chance outside of a special interest group.  I was mildly surprised by the P-61 being produced but then, when thinking about it, anything that's even remotely Pacific related would understandably appeal to the largest market of all - the USA.

Anyway, for my 2 cents ... Tamiya's next large bird (following the Corsair) would be the Hurricane -

1) It would complete their line-up of famous Allied fighters in the European Theatre;

2) Their latest, forthcoming, release is a Pacific Theatre aircraft and if, say, they're alternating then a E.T.O fighter would seem logical.

well, the NEXT Tamiya uber kit will be (and you heard it here first - not really, but you know what i mean) either:

Hawker Hurricane

Me109 E

why?

because the Canada museum that tamiya measured the corsair at has these two birds also, and we know for a fact that Tamiya also measured another aircraft - but they are not saying which

my money on the Emil

:)

But the fact that an exhibit is measured doesn't mean it'll be the next release. If one's goin to send a team across the ocean to measure something I think it's sound policy to let them measure any other exhibit that *might* be a future release. It's possible it'll be released in 10 years or never, ever...

1) But is Tamiya ever known for completing their line-up of what ever? In that case I would think that the P-47 is a better candidate... I have a hunch that type is better known in general outside the UK & the Commonwealth than the Hurricane...

2) Does Tamiya's management follow that logic or might something other be logical for them in regards to their markets and targets?

Although I'm curious how their sales in the total EU are? That's also quite a substantial economic block...

Edit: In reply to Jamme's post (no.40) that the USA is Tamiya's next most important market.

Europe is not "so" important.

They sell less and less in Europe.

That's easy to understand........

Price policy.

Cheers,

Jamme

Strange, I would have thought that the USA would be their MOST important market, like so many manufacturing companies (and not necessarily in the modelling arena).

First market is........Japan, then USA and then Europe.

Absolutely, and the US and Europe really are secondary markets as far as Tamiya and Hasegawa are concerned, I think a lot of people fail to realize that.

Actually, that figures ... The Japanese are inherently insular in the first place and they then look towards the rest of the world which is contra to elsewhere.

I think its time for a new tool Komet in 1/32, but I would also like to see an Ho 229 as well in 1/32.

Dragon has most of the work completed for a 1/32 Komet, but stopped due to the "economy".  Who knows when they will get around to finishing/releasing it...

IIRC the rumor mill had them doing a 1/32 Do 335 as well.

Saw that published some years ago. Must say that it doesn't quicken my pulse really... Would rather have a decent new-tool Starfighter. But then, my username could make that obvious.... ;)

I'd love to see a decent Do-17 in 1/32nd - perhaps with Revell doing the Ju-88 followed by the He-111 and He-219 it would more up their Strasse?

You'd have to stock up on masking tape though  ;)

You mean that jet engine with a couple of wings tacked on? :D

Wasn't Italeri doing a new tool 1/32 F-104?
