So, after finishing the Viggen I wasn't sure what to do next. I wanted something simple to just throw up OOB and toyed with the Eduard 1/48 Mig21 but decided I wanted to do that proper justice, so ended up with this.

Started by getting the cab assembled.

It's the Hasegawa Hitachi Zaxis digger which is something completely outside my previous experience but I thought it would be a bit different.

Everything so far fits very well. I didn't fancy masking off and painting all the glass frames given this is supposed to be a quick, easy build, so went with the kit decals which are ok but have quite wide carrier margins which are visible at some angles. I did try trimming them on the rear window but the decal then fell apart when trying to move it into place, so left them on all the bigger ones.

Interesting kit choice👍. I have personally learned most of those different and outside experience builds (tamiya fiat f500/warhammer tank/1/16 scale t34). Then i can use those skills on other builds also. Please share more photos. 🙂

So after being away for the week, I finally spent some time at the bench last night. I did a bit of work on the LRDG Ford. If you don't like lots of small parts, this kit won't be to your liking. So far though, the fit has been great. I finished up the rear axle with the second leaf spring, shackles and torque rods(I think that's what they are).

Nice one , I love left field builds . Never built anything commercial or even "diggery". 😆

I have built the 1/48 Eduard Mig 21 ...she's a doozy when you get around to it .

Since ditching the rug in my study and just working with wood floor below me , the amount of stuff I loose has reduced a heapful. That carpet monster is real man !

I have taken to modeling with a beach towel across my lap when I'm working with small parts.  Also helps to have a Berber carpet and not shag.  But I do still lose parts from time to time...  :censored:

Very cool!  Drum brakes!!!!  But the kit really looks the part.  Nice.

My bench for the next week or so until the next GB starts...

I usually do a complete clean-up between builds but have not since the Phantom F-4.  So will get things organized for the September start.

This is where I put the sprues and extra parts during the builds and stack up any AM I'll be using.

The paint racks.  Kinda organized.

There is a plastic cabinet under the table for other paint supplies.  The shelves are from IKEA with a ribbon LED light under the bottom shelf.

The little white box on the table has the MRP SEA camo paint colors from the F-4 build. Hard to see but on the left side of the table is a silverware organizer which I use to organize my sanding sticks and pads.

Something to keep me busy till 9/1 a little 1/72 Ki-49 and before I go any further I am painting all the glass by with a pedicure brush I might be finish with that this evening.The two main pieeces are complete scraped with a toothpick(never could paint inside the lines) once satisfied I dip in future to protect the work.;)

I'll be working on the AH-1Z Viper until a day or so before the GB starts, allowing time to clean up and organize the bench and studio and carefully box up the Viper until my entrie(s) are completed. Then it's back to the Viper.

Nice work on the glass!  I searched for 'pedicure brush' but could not find anything resembling what you show above.  I'm with you on the toothpick as a valuable tool.

I bought a Bambu Labs A1 printer. It arrived Saturday so finally found some space to set it up. The boys are hugely excited about this. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can do.

Just now, Canada Post arrived with a huge box. Much bigger than I expected.

The LRDG Ford continues on its road to completion.

The front axle is now done. If you drill out some mounts and use some thin wire for pivots, there's no reason you couldn't make this have working/posable steering.

Just wish I was of the generation that could dive into 3D printing, as it surely is the future. Enjoy your printer and looking forward to the details and parts you will be creating.
