TJTX Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 I'll be building some more in flight builds soon and wanted a more dynamic look. I just received the ground blur base from Coastal Kits and how cool is this thing? To me it really adds life to the model. I haven't finalized the base yet but in very very happy with what I received. 6
1to1scale Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Those are great, I have been looking at them for about a year, but in the past they didn’t have those big enough for 1/32. 3
krow113 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Easy enough to do. I googled 'English countryside aerial view' , got a file , brought it into Corel and literally hit blur! Printed onto vehicle wrap material and stretched over the base: ...well , maybe not that easy to do... 6
HubertB Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 They have some very cool bases, including carrier decks, grass and tarmac, and in 1/32 too. I follow them on ebay FWIW. Hubert 2
CrankyCrafstman Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 Nice...but the prop needs to be spinning or it just doesn't look right
krow113 Posted February 8, 2019 Posted February 8, 2019 The prop was the best alternative I could come up with after looking at all of the available ways to go about it. The display gets a lot of double takes at shows as guys take a second look thinking the prop IS spinning! The only other alternative was to just have the spinner. I do agree with you though , the prop is the focal point and will make or break the display. Full spinner paper template: Clear blade selection of diff widths: Not an easy choice with the alternatives available. The solid renditions are not realistic enough , that's why I did it a few diff ways to figure it out. 2
