TJTX
I reworked an earlier build playing around with weathering. Nothing special, just having fun learning.

I wanted to see what all it would work on and how it would look. I'm using it on my Mig right now and I'm really liking it. Combined with black-basing and possibly salt weathering I think it'll really pop.

Administrators Clunkmeister Posted April 2, 2019 Administrators Share Posted April 2, 2019 Tony, what are you using for a clear under the AK enamel? I use acrylic Vallejo wash so it wipes with windex. Curious...
1to1scale
Ernie, I have used both Testors Dullcoat and Vallejo semi or matte varnish, both worked well with enamels and oils, but I think the dull coat soaks up a little enamel (or oil), so you can’t undo something completely. I have also used oils directly on acrylic paint, but that’s risky, as there is no do-over.
krow113
I've had dullcoat soak up a wash before. Something to watch for.
TJTX
I used Gunze gloss for my Mig. I could wipe it off without issues and not needing to use anything to help. On the Spitfire I used it directly over the paint, no gloss coat. I used mineral spirits to help remove it off that. It did leave light staining in places but that was actually what I was looking for. Moving ahead I'll do it over my gloss coat prior to final full coat going down.
