I can maybe print the front and back and you can covert/scratch the center bed? Let me know, like I said I haven't tried to print anything yet. It's still only in Unigraphics. I have to convert it individual part to a stl file so my son can see if he can print it. So still in the infancy stages. So all i need to do is when you would go to print it is put in the correct scale factor and voila! Printed to the correct scale requested. CrankyCrafstman Posted August 7, 2020 Share Posted August 7, 2020 Hey Jeff Heres the Cat 336E in its preliminary status. It still needs alot of work. I basically modelled up the Newray excavator. Once it's in the system I can rework it into the 336E. It took foorreeveeerrr to do those tracks, links, pins and bolts and nuts. My computer kept crapping out, but I finally got it done. this view shows the excavator that I have modelled up to this point. side view. view looking aft at the front of the excavator. this view shows the tracks a little better. I have seen some of those real big excavators on low beds with Jeeps, and dollies, and even the cab of the excavator folded down, that goes especailly for Feller Bunchers and the like... and here in B.C. the guys have to curl the bucket tight to the boom and drop the stick as close to the deck as possible, we also have to tie down the boom and bucket.... seems over kill to me, but that is what CVSE demand.... even thought they can never fall off , being pinned to the stick and main boom.... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Since you drive and you said you are qualified to drive gravel trains, how many connections are there from the tractor to the first dump trailer? I think there are 5, electrical, main air, emergency air, hydraulic line in and hydraulic line out. Can you verify this for me? Jeff Posted August 10, 2020 Share Posted August 10, 2020 On our units we had 1 Electrical Cable, 2 air lines, Supply line ( Blue ) and Service line ( red ) and 1 hydraulic line, there is a two way valve in our hydraulic system, so only ONE Hydraulic line, so four connections total, ( and our Pups had 2 safety chains which is not required for the trains if using a 5th wheel as on the Super B's, but if there is a dolly., then 2 chains, crossed from the reach to the truck, so that it forms a cradle, should the Pintle hitch become compromised, the cross over chains will hold the reach and protect it from digging into the highway and flipping over) the second unit should be the same as the Lead... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ron G I hear you there, another thing I have noticed with truck model kits, Ron , is that the Italeri kits only have one set of spring brakes on one axle.... here in BC we have to have spring brakes on all drive axles, usually not on the front steer axle. It is VERY old school to have only one set of spring brakes on a tandem truck.... if you are making brake pots, then spring brakes on all axles except the steer, on the tractor, but ALL axles on the trailers... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

CrankyCrafstman Posted August 31, 2020 Share Posted August 31, 2020 Hey Jeff I got my 1/24 scale RC Caterpillar 336 from Diecast Masters today. It's pretty nicely detailed and it works real well, but it is not 1/24 scale!!!! It is closer to 1/20.5 scale, based off of the real 336's dimensions and what it scales up to. Here are some pictures of it. pretty niice looking and detailed well. more of a side view. this view shows it next to a drafting scale. Center to center of the idle wheel and the drive sprocket is supposed to be 13' 6" and it scales out to 16' 6" OOPPS!!!! Maybe I can say its a Cat 390 (thats the biggest one they make).
