Bomber_County Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 With the F4J and Ships Camel at finishing stages and associated trials, it was time to do some building. Had the M3 Grant for awhile in the stash. The Lee / Grant story is well known but I didn’t realise a Lee had 7 man crew and the Grant a 6 man crew. This will be my second Takom and is well engineered with little to no flash. Starting with the running gear, for each there are 17 components, two of which are the bolts to be shaved off the sprue and positioned. There are six of these so a little consuming but they build up beautifully. The only AM I’m adding is the RB 75mm M2 and 37mm turned barrels. The Tiger build burnt me out with PE, although Takom do supply a small amount......hoping you guys enjoy..... I never did any Airfix AFV’s in any scale so I missed the experience. I do remember my first model was Airfix Lysander 1/72 in the old header bags...... 4
GusMac Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 Only armour I remember doing as a youngster were the Lee and Airfix's 'Monty's Humber'. It sticks in my mind as I tried to do a diorama base for it using polystyrene and then stuck it down with the old Airfix tube glue with predictable results.... 4

Looks good quality. the quality is very good, not an excessive part count and relatively cheap. When 1/35 tank kits are starting to cost between £60- 70 mark I do look at them twice.... 5
Bomber_County Posted July 15, 2020 Author Posted July 15, 2020 Small update, all bogies now complete plus adding components to the hull. Takom of come up with a “foldable” part to go around the upper hull. See pic...........so nice not to be fighting the F4 paint job....... 6

Bomber_County Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 So it’s been to long, have sometime time now so here is an update....... tracks complete and hull components ready for assembly........ bogies complete and hull drying..........this Takom when together very nicely especially looking at all the geometry..... turret tomorrow and we are cooking with gas........ 8

Did the Miniart go together easily? The Miniart comes with a moulded dust cover as an option. So far it's been going together nicely with the one fit issue having been due to operator error. 2
