Revell 1/32 Hawker Typhoon (Vintage)
RalphSarc replied to RalphSarc's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Not thrilled with the fit of the cockpit canopy so removed it this morning to make some adjustment so it will fit more snug to the fuselage! It seems to teeter from the center!! Happy New Years everyone! -

Priming with my rattle can Home Depot primer revealed a problem with the canopy fit which needs a bit of filler and smoothing!! Getting ready to highlight the panel lines, seal the gear doors, spray the belly base coat and paint the D Day Stripes! -
1/32 Revell Beaufighter TF X conversion
RalphSarc replied to Wingco57's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
I've seen that Revell has reboxed the Beaufighter so I'm going to pick one up at the hobby shop and do another build with current skill set! What colors did you use for the underside? I want to do the Typhoon is the two grays but can't figure the bottom? I use Tamiya paints?? -
Fantastic review Jim!! Not in my future kit budget but very cool kit!!

I’ve gotten some incredible deals bidding on eBay. I usually haunt eBay on holiday weekends when bidding is less active watching for deals with a few hours left on the bid!! I’ve purchased most of my vintage kits that way!! -

No problem with the canopy so far Cees! I used white glue to fix it to the fuselage then a watered down version to fill any gaps. The Tamiya tape firmly held it in place while it dried overnight!! -

Okay done for the evening. Made good progress with the re-riveting. Also was able to mask and install the canopy! Starting to look like a Typhoon!! -
Boy that Alclad paint looks sweet but I've heard it's a bear to use?

Okay trying re-scribing and re-riveting today. Using MasterTool rivet maker for the first time. Seems to work pretty good! -
Oh very very cool!!!! I'm like you I like different schemes and this will be a killer!!

Continuing the seam work on the Typhoon! I'm sorry I keep saying this but boy does that mixture of Tamiya Thin and Styrene really does a great job when used as a filler. Easy to apply and sand it buffs to a new plastic shine!! -
Since this is no doubt a limited release kit I’ll have to save my pennies fast and buy one! I’m getting ready to re-scribe and re-rivet the Typhoon after finishing the seams. I have a MDC rivet tool but this will be my first time doing either to a model so should be interesting!!

Looking good Jim! Really like the detail on the resin JATO packs. What tool are you using to space your rivets?

Thanks Cees! This kit has great detail for an inexpensive Revell kit.The rivet and panel line detail is wonderful of course not to the level of the new 1/24 Typhoon but pretty good for a vintage kit!! -

Winging it today!!! Wow the fit of the four piece wing to the fuselage was very nice. Hardly a gap anywhere!!! Very pleased with the wing to fuselage fit!! I honest was holding my breath but was really pleasantly surprised with how well the fit has been so far!!! It maybe premature but so far this vintage Revell kit has been well behaved!! I love vintage Revell kits, lol!!! -

Started the Edward seatbelts. Thank God for my magnified hood, lol!! Finished Installing the Edward seatbelts today and joined the fuselage halves! Starting to look a bit like a Typhoon!! The fit was pretty good but looks like a day or so of filling, sanding and re-scribing!!
