  1. That hidey hole in the belly must have been one seriously lonely place to spend time behind one single engine over the open ocean.... Especially without not really being able to see what was going on up top.
  2. You and me both, Max. That and the B-24. My ex Father in Law flew 30+ missions over Germany in the tail turret of an RCAF Lanc. So the old girl means much to this old boy
  3. Tsk tsk tsk. Yup, that’ll definitely do it.
  4. Maybe this year there'll be a big Yak attack. It'd be cool to see some Russian iron be competitive.
  5. I've seen her fly many times, just never at Reno. One thing I've loved about her is that she's always been "Miss America". Never changed, or in ant way made different, just kept as the old classic Miss America. The temptation must have been strong for some guys wanting to make her "theirs".
  6. Hey Kais, no issues at all, and no derailment at all either. Historically, my build threads ended up becoming discussion rooms, so by all means, if it’s Mustang related, bring it! E
  7. Grrrrrrrrrr.... trying to improve the pit some, but the oxygen regulator I scratched out just launched itself into never never land.
  8. I’d like to build one of these.... Canadian 2A6 overlook for USMC ops in Afghanistan
  9. We were taught not to fear the Soviet tanks, but to get an 84mm Carl Gustav round into the side plates between the bogies. Do that right and it was always “poof”. The crew had about 30 seconds to bail out in cases like that. Well trained Soviet tankers were usually successful. You couldn’t get me one of those things for a million dollars. But they still make cool models.
  10. LOL Life goes on, man. You close one door and open another. The gang’s all here, Harv. No reason to look back.
  11. Yep, any SLOW CURE epoxy will work great. I highly recommend against 5 minute epoxy. It doesn't seem to hold or penetrate like the slow cure stuff.
  12. Miss America has always been Miss America. A box-stock P-51D except for chopped wings and some engine tweaks.
  13. Yeah on the other site, this would have been moderated off in 15 minutes. 1 hour tops. I'm frustrated. There are dozens of smart arse remarks rattling about my empty noggin, yet for some reason, not one can find the exit hole, dangit.
  14. Oh my.... beautiful job so far, Danny. If the aircraft is half as nice as the cockpit and cans, it’ll be a real stunner
  15. Now THIS is modeling 101! YES!! Skills I still need to master...
  16. Peter, this will be epic in every way. Plus, with your grand style, it’ll be an absolute stunner. It’s good to have the whole gang here now! Now we can concentrate on building while being friends and chatting, all while not needing to worry about getting smashed down. Build on, my friend. I’ve pulled up a chair.. OK, I bookmarked it.. same difference.
  17. Kids grown up and long gone, yet I still can’t find the time...
  18. It does.... but not having it kills us in 3 minutes. I’ll take my chances with the 90 years.
  19. Rob, it’s amazing, isn’t it? Men actually willingly climbed into these crates and flew them from Germany to England and return. And they did it nonstop at 20,000 ft or more, out of the reach of all fighters and most guns. The Brits had to develop a fighter and tactics to go after the Gothas, but at first, all they could hope for short of a lucky hit from an AA gun was engine trouble or a medical emergency to bring the big bomber down to a lower altitude . These were the world’s first heavier than air strategic bomber. Yes, there were Zeppelins and lesser bombers, but the Gotha G.lV was the first true long range strategic bomber. The crew flew these missions in an open cockpit biplane, sucking oxygen through a tube in their mouth, for hours on end. Brave. No, fearless.
  20. It looks like it’s an ancient thread. Hopefully it gets revived
