Not sure how y’all run a GB here with targets having a sub forum all their own, but say, if we did Eastern Front, I’d think moving ground targets would be included?

Ashamed of myself for 1/48 jets..
Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in Modelling Discussion
Yup. I’m a 1/32 purist, but a prop geek. Modern jets are cool, but I sure don’t have room for six Sukhoi 27s in 1/32. 1/48 does have it’s place, but only as an option. I’d never buy a 1/48 Spitty, 190, or Me-262. but modern Russian jets, plus F-18s and F-14s? All the time. -
Let’s start making plans for next year, y’all! http://www.ipmsusanationals.com/

Martin, that doesn’t look hideous, oh yee of cut and paste technology. MuG-9 is saying finish me please. Right now it’s only a MuG-7 3/4 Anyone who doesn’t know Martin, know this: He’s the crazy Slovak kit-stitcher. He can kitbash a 1/32 Tamiya F-16 into a Cessna 310. -

Here’s a bit of one of the wing roots. Don’t worry about sand scratches. They’ll be filled, sanded, primed, then scribed. -

It doesn’t look like much right now, but Jerry Rutman’s P-51B kit gives you a dead on the nuts accurate P-51B shape. If you sand it and fit it carefully, you can build a perfect shelf model. How far you take it from there is totally up to you. I intend to go as far as my ability allows. This P-51B will be good, assuming I don’t bork up the castings, which are made of unobtainium. -

Ok guys. A bit of an update for y’all. One thing on resin kits is that before we can even “build” the model, we need to get the airframe to fit properly. so we sand and fit, scrape, file, sand, and fit some more. Don’t worry about going too far, we can fill small gaps with styrene. But we need it close. Here’s where I’m at right now. The wing bottom needs plenty of major material removed. It’s a byproduct of resin casting before all the high tech fancy equipment they use today. So let’s sand... -

Thanks Phil, We all did well. SH had some decent deals and Eduard and Aires was doing booming business with weeklong sales. It was a good week. I wanted the ZM Dornier A-12 as well, but my luggage said no.

Let’s revive this thread. Many here know me from my TOS days, and like Jeroen, I’m a shootist and collector of historically significant firearms. Main interests lie in the FN FAL and it’s numerous variants, plus Georg Luger’s masterpiece, the incomparable P08, and last but not least, the firearms of the old American West. (Think Quigley Down Under, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne type stuff. Plus I’m been an avid motorcyclist my entire life, and also enjoy dabbling in 1950’s American automobiles.

65, but who’s counting. Seriously, next year will be P-51B for sure and Kingfisher as well if time allows. 2020 will be either RCAF Canso or USN Catalina. And that 1/48 scale PB4J-2 was a truly flawless and stunning build build. -

Mike, for me at least, in the past, GBs ended up being anticlimactic. We’d be all kinds of excited and in the end,.. nothing. I’ve really only had fun on one GB, and that was the Vietnam GB on LSP. I’ve never done one here, but over there, GBs just seem to end with no real hoopla. Big fanfare to start, and ho hum in the end. Maybe some judging or drawing at the end for all who finish to receive a prize? I mentioned that on The Other Site (TOS) and it was blown off as silly and wasteful. I think that if a popular theme with some cool ending prize is offered, (I’d even offer up a kit or two as prizes to get it all started) it’ll not only get good participation, but probably even drive traffic to the site. Thoughts?

It can be entered in the regular 1/32 prop class. Nothing’s stopping you from doing that. It’s what I intend with my Guppy conversion and Israeli Bf-109. -

Smitty, it looks like he wing walked it down the runway, alternating between the nose and the wingtips. Not bad as far as ground loops go. I’ve seen worse. But still a good view of the underside. -

As a dedicated 1/32 scale prop builder, I’ve found myself tight on space after accounting for 1/32 B-17, B-24, B-25, Lancaster, DC-3, PBY, etc, and I decided modern jets will be served fine in 1/48. Modern grey and blue jets are not my first love, but they do need building. F-14s, Su-27s, Phantoms, EE Lightnings = waaaay to big for 1/32 and are served well in 1/48, for me anyways. I catch it constantly from friends over this, so go for it and lay it on thick, y’all. I’m a traitor!
